(after greeting, be informed that I am fine here)

Or Apki khariat Shri Bhagwan ki tafar se naik Chahata hai
(& pray from bghawan for your well being)

Deegar Ahwal main char mah taak bemar raha lakin ab acha hoo
(other news is that I was ill for 4 months, but now I am fine)

Fikar na kar na mian larai ke laik nahi raha hoo
(don't worry now I am unfit for war)

Jaab yeh se Jahaaz Hindustan ko aye ga main fir ayon ga
(I will come when the ship for Hindustan will be ready)

Larkey ratan sud or shad (this word is not clear enough) ko meri taraf se payar baqi khariat hai
(love to boy ratan shad)

Those soldiers appear to be Punjabi Jat Muslims. The soldier with cigeratte in his mouth is holding a letter in the background seems to my eyes to be in Urdu.

North India is replete with villages that stood out for sending their sons to fight.

Two names come to mind . Taran Taran in District Amritsar and Gahmar in District Gazipur , UP.

Only europeans in their revolutionary zeal, at the climax of a period of centuries of progress and change, could withstand the intense bombardments of those wars. Participation of Indian men in those battles must have been helped by a dash of madness and a psyche of slavery.
