Younis Khan really sums up why Pakistan's batting is so bad. He is not a good batsman at all. By the cricket discussions on this forum i gather that no one here has played too much street cricket. The quality of a batsman is to be able to hit a four or a six on any kind of delivery. A proper batsman is always attacking, just like a proper fast bowler is always fast. Once the batsman has the ability to hit boundaries off the best balls, then he is ready for top most level. Good batsmen are always those who used to smash it all over the park when they were younger. They can learn to pace their innings latter very easily. Those who have a placid approach from the start are not good batsmen and not fit for the top level. All the top batsmen in international cricket are always those who had very high strike rates in their domestic cricket before they became international players.
Younis himself has admitted he did not have talent for cricket but his ambition and perseverance brought hm to this level.
I think more than hitting boundaries, those two qualities are lasting and worth having. Younis a great man and a great player. He is the one who has anchored Pakistan batting in the last couple of years.
