Younis is a beast


Better than any player in history when it comes to the 4th innings (compare the likes of tendu or dravid)


He has gotten his 30 test centuries in 101 matches

If younis plays for a few more years and still scores centuries he could be considered as one of the greatest batsmen ever

Younis Khan is truly a Pakistani legend but I'd still put him slightly below J. Miandad as far as his "impact" and "influence" in the Pakistani cricket is concerned.

I am old enough to have seen Miandad play from the 70's onward. He had to play when "umpiring" was terrible because the host countries would decide that. He had to face off against the mighty attack of the legendary W. Indian fast bowlers and pretty awesome spin and fast bowlers from other countries--Jeff Thompson of Australia was a butcher!!

While Younis is a gentleman Miandad was a fighter--sometimes almost literally. He would unnerve and perplex opponents and scheme constantly to dislodge set opponents. I don't think Miandad was technically very sound or even half-graceful in batting but, unlike Younis, Miandad would be very hard to dislodge playing stupid shots. Yes, Y.K has his more than enough share of throwing his wickets away.

For me the greatest Pakistani batsmen in terms of impact would be Miandad, Younis Khan, Inzy and Mr. Tuk Tuk (Misbah ul Haq)--all greats. But none of them gave the feeling of invincibility as much as Miandad did when he walked onto the field to bat, often in crisis situation. All the audience, and all the players from both sides knew that: Take care of Miandad and you are halfway done.

I say this despite knowing that Y.K may beat many records--but numbers often don't tell the whole story.
