New York: An estimated 130 children or more are dying every day in war-torn Yemen from extreme hunger and disease, according to Save the Children, an international aid group

The charity said a continuing blockade by the Saudi-led coalition fighting Yemen's Houthi rebels aligned with the country's former president was likely to further increase the death rate. It said more than 50,000 children are believed to have died in 2017.

The coalition closed all air, land and sea ports to stem the flow of arms from Iran on November 6, after Saudi Arabia intercepted a missile fired towards its capital Riyadh. It has since said that aid can go through "liberated ports" but not the key Houthi-controlled port of Hodeidah.

Now United Nations sanctions monitors have told the Security Council in a confidential report the coalition is threatening the peace, security and stability of the country by blocking humanitarian aid.
The UN has appealed for the blockade to be lifted, saying it could spark the largest famine the world has seen in decades. Some seven million people are on the brink of famine and nearly 900,000 have been infected with cholera.

"Saudi Arabia-led coalition restrictions to the delivery of humanitarian assistance fall under resolution 2216 (2015) as an obstruction to the delivery of humanitarian assistance," the UN monitors wrote in the executive summary of their report.

The independent monitors also called on the coalition to provide evidence backing Riyadh's claim that Iran was supplying missiles to the Houthi rebels, warning that a failure to do so would violate a February 2017 council resolution.

That resolution, adopted by the UN Security Council in April 2015 shortly after the Saudi-led coalition intervened in Yemen, states that obstructing aid access and delivery is an act that threatens the peace, security and stability of the country.

The UN monitors also questioned the coalition claims that Iran was supplying missiles to the Houthis.

In a November 7 letter to the Security Council, Saudi UN ambassador Abdallah al-Mouallimi said Riyadh had examined the debris of missiles fired by the Houthis into Saudi Arabia on July 22 and November 4 and confirmed "the role of the Iranian regime in manufacturing these missiles."

Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has said Iran's supply of rockets to militias in Yemen was an act of "direct military aggression" that could be an act of war.

The UN monitors said they had "seen no evidence to support claims of SRBM (short-range ballistic missiles) having been transferred to the Houthi-Saleh alliance from external sources."
The Houthis are allied with forces loyal to Yemen's ex-president Ali Abdullah Saleh. Saleh was ousted by the Saudis in March 2015.

The monitors said the coalition reported in public briefings and statements that the July 22 missile was a Qiam-1 short-range ballistic missile made and supplied by Iran.
"The supporting evidence provided in these briefings is far below that required to attribute this attack to a Qiam-1 SRBM," the monitors wrote, adding that the coalition had not yet said what type of missile was fired on November 4.

The United Nations said in August that Yemen needed $US2.3 billion in humanitarian aid this year. The warring parties are among the greatest aid donors, with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates both giving significant sums.

The United States is also a major donor, as well as a primary supplier of arms to the members of the Saudi-led coalition. Although the US is not directly involved in the conflict, it has provided military support to the Saudi-led coalition, and Yemenis have often found the remnants of American-made munitions in the ruins left by deadly airstrikes.

shame on all those who are part of that coalition. RS is leading that coalition. cant he see what the coalition is doing with yemen. pak pm, coas are about to visit saudia . probably saudis will lure pak into alliance against iran, lebanon. they will make an offer our leaders may not be able to resist and we will land into another "fitnah". i really wish muslim leaders would have read some of the words of Quran and hadith so that they may be able to take a decision in accordance with islamic teachings before taking sides. right now the only thing that is driving the leaders of the islamic world is $$$.
the quran tells us that if two muslims fight then make an effort to make them friends and if you fail fight against the oppressor till the time he stops offending the other. according to hadiths in the time of fitnah when muslims are fighting against each other try to avoid that fight and stay away from it. the beauty of fitnah is that it attracts just like the dollars attracted us after 9/11 and now riyals will do the job.

for the good of these children Iran should stop playing with fire at Saudis backward.

its same like India is playing in Afghanistan against us. we know how it feels and we think Saudis are right to do it.

KSA and its policies are like dynamite which can explode anytime and take all of them at a situation of blood shed king salman since his throne to kingdom ummah is in deep trouble

Extremely tragic....shame on KSA & UAE
For protecting their lands? What business does Iran have in Yemen? Why is it supplying missiles to Yemen? Why is Iran, exacerbating the misires of the Yemenis for its hegemonous designs?

The US Air Force says the ballistic missile that targeted Saudi Arabia was Iranian

Nov. 10, 2017
(AP) — The ballistic missile fired by Yemeni rebels that targeted the Saudi capital was from Iran and bore "Iranian markings," the top U.S. Air Force official in the Mideast said Friday.

Lt. Gen. Jeffrey L. Harrigian, who oversees the Air Forces Central Command in Qatar, made the comments at a news conference in Dubai.

Harrigian said authorities were investigating how the missile was smuggled into Yemen amid a Saudi-led coalition controlling the country's airspace, ports and borders.

After the Nov. 4 strike near Riyadh, Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry said investigators examining the remains of the rocket found evidence proving "the role of Iranian regime in manufacturing them." It did not elaborate, though it also mentioned it found similar evidence after a July 22 missile launch. French President Emmanuel Macron similarly this week described the missile as "obviously" Iranian.

Nikki Haley, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said in a statement Tuesday that the July launch involved an Iranian Qiam-1, a liquid-fueled, short-range Scud missile variant. Iran used a Qiam-1 in combat for the first time in June when it targeted Islamic State group militants in Syria over twin militant attacks in Tehran.

Harrigian declined to offer any specifics on what type of missile they believed it was.

US Airforce is no authority. We need to form a commission to investigate who provided them with the missile but to be honest Houthis reserve the right to attack back on the aggressors. They did not attack KSA or UAE first rather the latter two attacked and killed innocent citizens without any provocation. It was Yemen's internal issue and should have been left to them to decide or some mediation for peace talk should have been done. But KSA and UAE took a military route and started killing innocent children. So Houthis reserve all the rights to attack the aggressors. Prophet of Islam prayed for two places Shaam-e-na wa Yaman-e-na lakin la Najad.

Doing the work for Israel.
Herald doing your job of spreading lies!

Blockade or not, any functioning brain would ask questions like:
1- How can naval blockade cause famine?
2- How can Saudi Arabia with its limited army, can blockade thousands of miles of naval boundary.
3- What are the details of such blockade?
4- Where's Saudi navy and army in Yemen?
5- Which food shipment from Australia /US was sent back?
........

Who is this "we"? Mullah lovers?

The houthis have been creating a nuisance on the Southern Saudi border for ages, this is not the first military action against them. Instead of rhetoric, studying actual history might help.

Secondly, if you are going to quote a Hadith, do it with proper reference.

You can sit here and howl and cry, beat your chest, in the real world, no one really cares for the Mullah's or their lovers.

just like we dont want indian influence in afghanistan same ksa dont want iran in yaman.
winning of houthis mean strong presence of iran in yemen which translate into more troubles for ksa and gulf.
its sad children dying in this conflict but iran equally responsible.

First It's Yemeni people whom refuse Saudis hegemony in their country, secondly many countries are involved in this war against Yemeni people those who provide weapons for Saudi and the UAE regimes or cooperate with them next to those who see their interests in prolonging wars in this region. Iran has called out for democratic and diplomatic solution from the first days of the conflict not to forget that Iran warned and advised Houthis not to take over of the capital Sanaa which means Iran didn't and doesn't want to see situation in the region get escalated.

Why don't you say for the good of these children Saudis should stop bombing them and aggression?
Why don't you say for the good of these children American should stop arming Saudis and supporting their aggression?

This thread isn't about India...you dragging India into the discussion shows how scared you and your army are...

Hypocrites will be unable to understand such simple logic. After all. twada kutta kutta, sada kutta Tommy!

Iran is actually more to blame, because without their support, the war would have been over in a week. The only reason Iran is doing this is because it does not want a stable KSA..

He just gave an example to elaborate. We are having a fruitful discussion.
