Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday met with Khalid Sultan, deputy defense minister of Saudi Arabia .

Xi, also chairman of the Central Military Commission, reviewed the smooth growth of China's ties with Saudi Arabia since the two countries forged diplomatic relations in 1990, citing frequent high-level visits, fruitful cooperation in trade, the economy and energy, and close coordination in international affairs.

Xi underscored China's commitment to developing stronger ties with Saudi Arabia.

On the military front, he noted that China and Saudi Arabia have worked more closely in recent years.

The stronger military cooperation between China and Saudi Arabia benefits the bilateral relations and works for world and regional peace and stability, according to Xi.

The president called for more joint efforts to upgrade military-to-military relations.

Khalid underlined the solid friendship between the two countries and bilateral efforts to safeguard world and regional peace and stability.

The Saudi deputy defense minister said Saudi Arabian leaders place great importance on developing ties with China and would like to deepen bilateral friendship and cooperation.

Khalid arrived in Beijing on Monday for a four-day China visit.

ChineseTiger1986:

Can you tell us about the nuclear/energy cooperation between KSA and China? I remember reading about this less than a week ago. I think that some kind of deal was struck or agreement or at least talk about such? I have not watched news for nearly a week now and not read any Arabic newspapers online since I have been extremely busy with studies until today.

I like the foreign policy of China the most of the 3 big powers (USA, China and Russia).

The deal was signed since last year.

China is the first came up with the commercial 4th gen nuclear reactor, and we hope to expand this technology in order to break the western monopoly. And we are very happy to see that Saudi Arabia is willing to cooperate with us.

Will New Chinese Nuclear Reactor Design Crush Western Competition?

Saudi Arabia has bought 440 disclosed ballistic missiles from China recently, @ChineseTiger1986 , what kind of missiles were they in your opinion?

The DF-21/DF-25 maybe, since those DF-3A missiles have reached the end of its lifespan.

And KSA hopes to prolong the life-extended deal by replacing the liquid-fueled & silo-based DF-3A with the solid-fueled & road-mobile DF-21/DF-25.

Yes, I am aware of that deal but I thought that there was talk about a new 1-2 weeks ago? Do you recall anything that might sound familiar?

Sorry, now I remember it. It had nothing to do with nuclear cooperation but rather oil. Here is the article if I remember correctly:

China and KSA have extended the cooperation in both nuclear energy and new oil refinery.

It seems that both deals were set in last year, and this time the Saudi deputy defense minister comes to China looking for new deals.

Aha. Excellent. Thank you for the information. Will have to read more about the recent talks and await what will happen when the delegation visits China.

Mr.Sultan seemed to be very excited about the deal from the IDEX of last year.

@Yzd Khalifa

What are the odds of the Kingdom joining either the J-20 or the J-31 program?

Since US loves to sell their export weapons at a ripoff price, thus China's weapons can offer more choice for KSA and other nations and turn down the monopoly business practise of the western nations.

F-35 gonna be outrageously expensive no doubt, thus it will be wise for KSA and others to have more choice for their next gen stealth fighter program.

US now wants to kill the competition in the international weapon market by passing this new treaty on UN.

UN adopts global treaty on weapons trade

Thus the details about the deal of this visit cannot be revealed, and the Chinese medias have kept this news in low profile.
