I think it is still in assemble process like Type003 aircraft carrier. PLAN seems quite happy with Type093A SSN. Type 095 SSN are not so urgent required. Estimate 4 Type093A and 2 Type 093 in service.

PLAN needs dozens of the Type-095 SSN asap as the current SSNs are inferior to the USN’s latest Virginia and even the 1990s Seawolf class SSNs.

Virginia is being upgraded with newer blocks as well.

Maybe Type-093A is close to the first block of Virginia but just like Type-093A being an upgrade of Type-093, the Virginia is I think getting a block upgrade every 5 years.

China needs to be building 2-3 Type-095 SSN every year now if PLAN wants to be a credible threat to USN by 2030 in the Western Pacific.

China is more invested in diesel powered subs than nuclear subs because less acoustic signature and less magnetic signature and because range is not that big of a concern considering China has little interest outside of China's peripheral seas which are Yellow Sea, East China Sea, South China Sea.

BTW, any indication if China has improved battery technology in its diesel-electric submarines to reach at least the full submerged patrol duration of a standard US nuclear submarine patrol (42-60 days)? Similar to the goal of the Australians and their diesel-electric French barracuda submarines.
