Please provide the source, the data seems is based on GDP(PPP) and not GDP nominal.

The problem is not that we spend less.

The problem is that we spend without any medium-long term vision and planning.

One more thing to consider - bang for the buck. Most countries buy equipment, so they pay way more than it costs to produce, and that includes US too - they pay to private companies who makes massive profits, or even government subsidizes R&D.

In that light, China is probably getting more for their $380 bln. than US for $741 bln. China is still behind technologically, but they are catching up fast, and considering circumstances, its only a matter of time till it passes US in military might.

USA spends more on military than the rest of the world put together. No wonder they feel so freely when invading foreign countries. And no wonder that they are resented so much globally... "peace at home, war in the world" that should be their motto...

i guess tht rank is based on the % of GDP if am not wrong...?
