What's new

Will not order more , but OK with Export : IAF on Tejas Mk-1

your bisons jaguars mirages are gona retire soon- the intended replacement LCA is not good enough-
dont compare LCA to MKIs or Rafales- it was never meant to be for such roles-

The Mig-21bis was inducted in late 80's and they are newer than your mirage fleet and F-16 fleet.
The Mig-21bison was inducted in late 90's and last delivery in 2002. do the math
The Jaguar was inducted after your mirage fleet was inducted and just 2 years before your F-16's were delivered.
40 Jaguars were inducted b/w 2000-2007. They will serve a few decades.

M2K is undergoing a complete refit, overhaul and upgrade. Not retiring anytime soon. 2040-50 at least.

Your Mirage 3,5 are the oldest most ancient fighters in the subcontinent and they need to be retired before anything else.

The intended replacement LCA is probably not going to come into service in decent nos ever and the IAF realises that. Matter of time before an alternative like Gripen is chosen. Price difference isn't much.

LCA is not good enough thats why LCAMK2 is being devloped which is a continuation of LCA project.
I didnt compare them. You compared them saying that IAF is buying foreign fighters because it doesnt want LCA to which i replied that IAF would have brought RAFALES regardless of sucess or failure of LCAmk1 since both fighters are of different class.

Also keep in mind that IAF is not inducting fighters just for replacing any old fighter.Currently we have about 32 squadrons whereas the target is 44 squadrons. So any induction is not neceesarily meant for replacing any old fighter.

you guys can come out with your keyboard schemes to negate the impact of failure of LCA gona have on IAF- but your own IAF chief and other defence experts cannot undermine the wide gap and shortage of squardons that resulted due to LCA failure-

you guys talk about LCAmk2 as if its gona be a piece of cake considering how LCA fared- even your defence officials are not sure about it-

LCA mk1 is a failure but you said that the LCA project is the failure, there is a difference between the two.LCAmk2 is the continuation of LCA project and failure of LCAmk1 has indeed affected IAF in bad way but the end of bad time is nearly getting over. From 2018 onwards IAF's squadron will only increase and not decrease and old fighters will be replaced by more capable fighters.
Nobody said that LCAk2 is cakewalk,i have my doubts that lcamk2 will be devloped in the given timeframe however not major structural differences exist between lcamk1 and lca mk2 so mk will take less time.

272 mki
68 mig-29
51 m2k
2 squardons of lca Mk1 2-3 squardons of lca mk2

We are unlike your country where PAF is ready to induct an IOC standard fighter in large number.

As per your standard JF17 is your high end fighter but for IAF even better (in terms of capability, engine, composite, radar) Tejas is low end fighter.

I think you quoted me by mistake.

My views on LCA mk2-

1. It does not exist.
2. It is a figment of imagination
3. When it does come to exist on paper it will be too late.
4. Similar to what Gandhi said- A post dated cheque on a failing bank.

Say by 2020 the design is validated. finalised and IAF requested changes have been made it will take 10 years for the development process. Technology demonstrator stage, IOC-1, IOC-2, FOC. In the middle multiple faults will be found and time will be taken to rectify. Multiple Tejas mk1 crashes during the duration along with loss of pilot life will hopefully bring an end to the LCA program. Its simply not feasible and does not make any sense to carry on this failed project.

.
The same applies on your JF-17 and the china reject tanks your country so proudly operates.

JF17 was made a/c to Pak airforce needs not chines.. it was solely mean for pak airforce.. and the tanks you are talking about .. open your eyes update your knowledge those tanks are now being operated by many nations .. Burma, Morocco, Bangladesh pakistan and sooner will be sirilanka

. . .
LAC failure because your Air Force don't want to buy them more than 40 jet. No good enough to replace outdated jet.
IAf is buying 40 if them......
if I compare the number with thunder, then paf has ordered only 50 of them.....
so....does that makes thunder a failure....

If this is the only reason to call lca a failure.... then there is no point in debating further sir
