You are absolutely right that the one issue the IN is facing right now is that the Indian shipyards are absolutely full with orders for the next decade. Capacity is certainly a very real issue now and this is the only real reason the IN would look abroad for frigates.

As for production delays in India, this is being addressed significantly and won't be present in the future ships the IN receive thanks to upgraded shipyards with far greater capacity and industry best practices such as modular construction.

You need to correct that. The DPSU yards are full of orders, and while they are expanding capacity; are still bottle-necked. However the Private yards have sufficient spare capacity.

Now to the question of the OP: there is practically no chance of India ordering any Frigates or Surface ships from Russia now. WRT Subs, there is a possibility of leasing another SSN and then the P-75I SSK project, which will certainly be "made in India" and may not even be Russian at that.

If IN is not interested in Russian advance ships then in future few may end up in PN as relation between PN and Russian navy are growing fast.

The reason why Indian Navy is not interested in Russian Frigates is because our Domestic warships are now good enough, Infact the Shivalik class even exceeds the fire power and technologies of the Batch 2 of the Russian Talwar class Inducted after the Shivalik class.

PN, in my opinion cannot afford Cutting edge Russian frigates which cost upwards of 500 Million USD,
Infact the AG class Being discussed here was offered to India @ 700 Million USD each

PN however can induct Heavy corvettes developed by Russia like the one offered to Vietnam.

Those 2000 Ton ships will match the price and specification of Indian Kamorta class

It is,in stealth department and design sir,looking at kolkata class i am just not impressed.
Our designs are still not good enough plus the main thing is we need to pacify russia by giving it some contracts.

Either way our shipyards are full for some time and it will help us make more stuff on time.

As for "pacifying" Russia, forget that. How many billions has India already thrown at them and they are still having tantrums like petulant children. No point in throwing good money after bad, I can't point to a single Indian defence purchase from Russia that has gone off without a hitch and just look at the mess they made of the last batch of Talwars- 6 months late in delivery and $100 MN over budget! I'd rather this money stayed in India, went to Indian shipyards and employed Indians because now the Indian industry is capable of making world class frigates and the P-17As will be the proof.

Indian shipyards didn't build or even upgrade the Kilo subs, look to Russia for that. There have been relatively few issues with Indian made ships which is surprising and their quality now looks world class.

Indeed and these are the next things that needs to be indigenised and it is in the works.
