WikiLeaks: Narendra Modi, the lone honest Indian politician

@Joe Shearer, sir may ask two questions, If there has been a shred of evidence against Modi, why is he not behind bars?

Apart from that, rss affiliated or not, is there anything wrong with his developmental policies, his economic model, his administration?

To be honest, those are naive questions, and display a total lack of reality regarding the way things are run in India.

Some years ago, a ranking badminton player had her husband killed by her politician goon boyfriend, and married him shortly thereafter. All evidence was suppressed by the administration and the police, since the boyfriend was close to Sanjay Gandhi.

In UP, at the moment, there are dozens of cases against an ex-Raja, but he is not only a member of the state government, but has the audacity and ability to kill a senior policeman on duty.

In West Bengal, the ruling Chief Minister's brother was in police custody, and the Chief Minister herself stormed the police station, extricated her brother (and nephew), and that was the end of the matter. Her minister was involved in the death by suicide of a young woman, but is still to be investigated in spite of her having made 71 calls to him on the last day of her life. Another of her partymen, a local councillor, was responsible for shooting to death of a policeman on duty, but until the police revolted, the facts were suppressed, the responsible party was not accused, and someone else altogether was held responsible. A few days ago, an armed mob destroyed a hallowed institution, and as a result of the Chief Minister's and Governor's indignation, action is being taken - against the defenders of the institution, and people who had been injured by the intruders.

In 1946, during the Great Calcutta Killing, Suhrawardy personally took charge of the Lalbazar Control Room, and prevented any police action being taken until to his consternation, the tide turned, and there were more casualties among his supporters than among those attacked.

When a Chief Minister wants the administration not to testify, policemen not to act, and not to file cases, and investigators to be met by a blank wall of silence, there is not much point in complaining about evidence being slow to gather, and witnesses inexplicably changing their stories after their initial court appearances.

As far as his developmental policies are concerned, I do not want to work myself into a further fury, but this marvel of efficiency has only achieved a position slightly in advance of West Bengal in terms of actual investment. A close look at the figures displays an enormous amount of self-publicity, and a surprisingly anaemic performance on the ground. If hype were to be a criterion, Gujarat would have pulled past the PRC by now. There is enough hard analysis about the Gujarat government's actual performance out in the public domain.

what anemic performance did you see on the ground?

what ground level information do you know of?

The hype that the PRC has is also massive and it is simple marketing and thats what brings in the money.

yeah,a state with little bureaucracy and quick performance, why should it not be welcomed?

Yeah right...Jagdish Tytler is free, still we know what he did. But when it comes to modi it's supposed to be by the book?

do you understand english...? i said that does not explain the absence of a chargesheet.....understand before replying......

btw there are plenty of witnesses who have sworn on record that they say jagsih tytler leading the mobs in trilokpuri calling for massacring of sikhs.....any eye witnesses saw Modi leading mobs on the street...?

also my reference was to rajiv gandhi.....the guy who said "when a big tree falls, the ground beneath it shakes",,the guy who refused to call the army for three weeks even when the cantonments were only a stones throw away......

He's the CM of gujarat, he used his political power to squelch all evidence and trails.

Allegations with no proof.....btw the trial has been moved out of gujarat under the supervision of supreme court long back..if you did not know.....so try some other ruse.......

ANyone who dares to step against him is either killed (like Haren Pandya who approached the SIT )

lol.....haren pandya did not depose before the SIT and he explicitly refused to do so.......plenty of congress cadres and office bearers were involved in riots...Cong silent on cadres linked to Guj riots - Times Of India bet some congress man bumped off haren pandya to put the blame on modi.....congress is capable of anything.......

or brutally victimized- like that IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt. When a relatively small time guy like SPS Rathore can get Ruchika's case under the mat, get her brother beaten up by police, you think the CM of a state will do any less?

i dont think anything.......you ve got to prove it....you claim.....so burden of proof is on you....btw sanjiov bhat has been exposed colluding with congress and even his own superiors and subordinates have exposed his lie......he was angling for a poltiical career with congress...but poor guy....has been left high and dry by the congress....

and this is not to mention he has quite a record with custodial deaths even before.....

You're IQ level don't seem to be matching to anything I've seen yet. He came up because of hard work, RSS don't have pre-eminent influence etc. kind of like a bollywood movie no?

no...that is the reality.....maybe for dynasty bootlickers like you a man from a extremely backward caste with no famous surname aspiring too become the PM of the country may seem incomprehensible...to you...your leader must be your previous leader's son/daughter...to you they should have been born with a silver spoon and a divine mandate to rule you irrespective of whether he has his *** in the place of his brain.....typical of a monarchy....but to people like me....the former is the whole idea of india...a socially backward guy fighting against his odds and tasting sucess at the highest levels.......

You have the disapproval of Vajpayee, not the most secular of leaders, yet a fair man and not a party to betrayal of the constitutional oath of office. You have the clear and unambiguous testimony of the BJP's own allies, and of its tallest leader.

this is from countercurrents.org..hardly known as modi's fan.......

BH09WxmCAAMqA6q.jpg

its funny to see the marxists these days circle jrk to vajpayee and advani...the original culprits who were anathema to these people for their involvement in the ram janmabhoomi issue.....guess everything is par for the course....

You have the testimony of hundreds of innocents attacked while they were in their homes, defenceless. You have the testimony of the worst perpetrators, who bragged about the official support they got.

and we have the supreme court monitored SIT report......no thanks....i will take the SIT report over other accounts....

Yes, of course, self-made, with the backing of a fundamentalist organisation better organised for evil and mischief than many that we recognise so readily on the other side of the border.

Self-made, with the help of two decades of indoctrination, among caste Hindus, among the tribals, among every single constituency that mattered by the RSS and its front organisations, who never stop bragging about the foundations that they prepared for the BJP to build on.

so typical..just empty frothing in the mouth..try something better......rss is here to stay whether you like it or not......not even going to waste time trying to counter the hatred......

just one thing....rss is not even remotely, i mean remotely, near the political violence unleashed by some like congress or cpm.....for ex. supposedly 30,000+ people have been casualties in the murderous left regime in west bengal that spanned 34 years...(though i dont like Trinamool, one thing im happy about them is they are teaching the left what political violence means.....).and yet they (RSS) have done much more to the country's downtrodden than any other group..... actually one thing i have noticed.....its almost always the air conditioned arm chair pundits who have a hatred for rss...typically the leftist and congress sympathizers....not the aam admi....scratch it and you will find the reason...their shop is open only till population remains poor....their entire academic career, activist and political lives are based on people being poor and they exploiting it.....

Good governance on the blood of hundreds, good governance consisting of memoranda of understanding that exceed China's total FDI, but which have resulted in few practical results.

ur allegation...that has not been butressed by any proof.....same as diggy vijay claiming that he knows the entire background of saffron terror......talk is cheap.......

A hollow, plastic-bottomed leader, preaching a hollow, plastic-bottomed ideology and theology, followed by and revered by hollow, plastic-bottomed followers, preaching their leader's virtues on PDF, no less. Hypocrisy is strained at the seams. If this sanctimonious publicity is not intended to create trouble, what else is it doing here, of all places?

Lets not talk about rahul gandhi when we are discussing Narendra modi........

Umm, the same school as that bankrupt rogue Swapan DasGupta, as it happens. And if I was elitist, I would not have argued for the recognition of multiple identities, including legitimising the quest for identities among the Dalit, the tribals, and minority religious groups.

so now swapan da is a bankrupt rogue...ofcourse why not ?...earlier he was a leftist...but he saw the madness of the idealogy and came out of it...for that he must be worse than apostate to you.....somebody put it aptly...communism (not just the party but the leftist mentality) is just islam without allah but with all the other dogmas....apostasy is punishable by death (atleast figuratively) ....hey, he is 100 times the articulate intellectual you are.....

and this is the same modus operandi that is being used to discredit madhu kishwar too....when she was a critic of modi, she was an acclaimed social activist, feminist....but when she saw the blind hatred being spewed and she saw the lies behind it, she changed her stance and now she is being pilloried.......so, who cares for your certification ?

Unlike your caste Hindu stance, by the way.

Ooops.......what do you know of my caste or my stance ?

ur a bundle of contradiction.....hw am i supposed to exhibit a "caste hindu stance" when my tallest leader is a ghanchi.. which is a numerically small, most backward caste from the backwaters of gujarat......btw if u want to know which was the most casteist hindu legislative assembly then it was west bengal under left.....Importance of being an upper caste in Bengal House - Indian Express

You should learn what elitism means in context, and not just spout its dictionary meaning. This is India, and in India, the elitist is represented by those who want to crush every other identity under that of casteist Hindu identity.

no...elitist, even in india, is supposed to be one.....who thinks he has the divine patent to judge others...one who thinks his intellect is superior to others, one who tries to beat down every other differing view as "bankrupt"....one who assumes a moralistic high position that may be laced with hypocrisy.... one who thinks he is the knight in shining armor for the oppressed and without whom they would have no hope....and finally one who thinks he is the right man to certify people with labels like "progressive", "liberal", "secular", "communal", "fascist" etc.....so far you fit the profile like a glove......

And for the likes of you? Remaining neutral, even supporting mass murder by goons, with the state agencies asked to look away? Are you asking us to accept that murdering women and children is smaller in the minds of people than corruption?

once again...the same 2002......hey listen....no one is here to listen to your sob stories....lets talk facts.....

this is what the aam admi thinks....Reviving secularism - Indian Express Mobile

His recent speeches and the assiduousness with which they have been reported live by nearly every news channel have caused alarm bells to start ringing in ‘secular’ circles...... In activist circles, Marxists, liberals and crypto-Islamists have united to paint doomsday scenarios for Muslims

So, in my ever humble opinion, when ‘communal’ Mr Modi changed the subject to governance he did a national service. It forced even Rahul Gandhi to acknowledge in his first address to the nation that there were serious unsolved problems related to governance. If now we return to that ancient debate about secularism and communalism we will be regressing to a time when temples and mosques were more important than the need to win the war against poverty, illiteracy and disease.

So, to those ‘secularists’ readying themselves for a new battle against ‘fascism’ I have only one thing to say: India has moved on and it is time that you did too unless you want to find yourselves in the dustbin of dead ideas.

Tavleen is bang on the buck....

Keep debating on the age old and archaic "secularism vs communalism" and find yourself in the dustbin of dead ideas, if you are not there already....

Speaking of which, have you even bothered to look at the corruption of the Sangh Parivar? Starting with the teflon-coated Vajpayee himself? Or with the ebullient Gadkari? Or the mangler of English from Andhra whom you (and Swapan DasGupta) were so thrilled with, until he was caught with his hands in the till?

Are you seriously saying that the BJP is corruption-proof? Do you think we are all idiots, and have not seen what they did in their very first government in the south in Karnataka?

bjp has not done 1/100th of the corruption the congress dynasty has unleashed on this country in 58 years of its governance......but why bother...they have given us socialism and "secularism"......so lets condone it......

and btw when advani was accused of hawala...he resigned.....bangaru is no more in bjp......gadkari has been removed...yeddy and reddy are no more in bjp......this is how a political party should function....yet blind eyes cant see it......

........................

moreover @Joe Shearer the bengali bhodroloks have already destroyed one state, the state was considered the crown jewel of india with their nonsensical leftist idealogies and pseudo-intellectualism.....lets not spread that destruction and stagnation outside WB borders too.......kthanxbye

Seriously,

This old time anglophillic prostating is no good,

All the people of India who have been useful to Indian society in people in anyway have been fundamentally conservative, religious, god fearing theistic people whether they are Hindus/Christians/Muslims.

Most of the Think Tanks and these Pseudo social engineers are pure gas.

a) The said Raja Bhayya was appointed JAIL MINISTER (!)
b) In a country like India even the work that people like Modi do is called 'unheard of' development. In more mature countries like the US, if the politicans don't deliver at least at this level, they are declared failures

Slightly out of date, aren't we?

It is this same Nitish Kumar who is on the point of breaking up the coalition because Modi is a leper to anyone who is not outright Islamophobic.

its funny to see the marxists these days circle jrk to vajpayee and advani...the original culprits who were anathema to these people for their involvement in the ram janmabhoomi issue.....guess everything is par for the course....

Why marxists? Why cannot liberals point to these defects? The marxists are pitiful failures; what does India need with them?

How difficult is it to understand that Vajpayee and Advani are culprits still; it is their criticism of Modi that is all the more damning.

Even bigots like these two are concerned about Modi. How much further can we go?

and we have the supreme court monitored SIT report......no thanks....i will take the SIT report over other accounts....

It is not at all surprising that a party that expressly does not believe in the rule of law, and breaks the law at every opportunity in the pursuit of its political gains, would have an apologist, you, who wants to pick and choose those actions of the Supreme Court that suit him, and ignore those that don't.

so typical..just empty frothing in the mouth..try something better......rss is here to stay whether you like it or not......not even going to waste time trying to counter the hatred......

In short, your answer is, "Yes, you're right, it was the RSS, so I won't deny it, I'll just stick to saying what a glorious institution the RSS is, and how they will magically bring about development without a single concrete idea about how to set about it."

Pathetic.

And you have the audacity to accuse others of frothing at the mouth.

ur allegation...that has not been butressed by any proof.....same as diggy vijay claiming that he knows the entire background of saffron terror......talk is cheap.......

I made two points, not one; for the first, there is overflowing proof, in the accounts of victims, in the accounts of perpetrators, in the conviction of Kodnani, in the call records, in the accounts of police officers, in the accounts of administrators.

For the second, it was obviously so concrete and material a point that you felt it best not even to respond. Naturally.

It happens to be the justification for the murderous riots, as a matter of fact. We are always told that the murders don't matter, because Modi brought good governance and greater development to Gujarat. Once it turns out that these claims were hollow, it is obviously not worth your time to discuss the claims at all.

Lets not talk about rahul gandhi when we are discussing Narendra modi........

Stop being childish and using schoolboy debating tricks. Everybody - possibly with the exception of you, if we are to take you seriously - knows whom I mean.

so now swapan da is a bankrupt rogue...ofcourse why not ?...earlier he was a leftist...but he saw the madness of the idealogy and came out of it...for that he must be worse than apostate to you.....somebody put it aptly...communism (not just the party but the leftist mentality) is just islam without allah but with all the other dogmas....apostasy is punishable by death (atleast figuratively) ....hey, he is 100 times the articulate intellectual you are.....

Swapan da! Suddenly the Bengali becomes respectable, and you have all the tools with which to pay respect to a great eminence among them.

SDG remains hollow, and so do you. My point was not about Swapan DasGupta, but about elitism. It is typical of rants like yours that you bolt far from the subject or the points made, and make a song and dance about an entirely unrelated matter. Instead of addressing the question of elitism, you obviously found it easier to address other points not related to the discussion, points like who thinks what about Madhu Kishtwar.

Do you think people are all fools, and cannot understand your shallow and cheap tricks?

Ooops.......what do you know of my caste or my stance ?

ur a bundle of contradiction.....hw am i supposed to exhibit a "caste hindu stance" when my tallest leader is a ghanchi.. which is a numerically small, most backward caste from the backwaters of gujarat......btw if u want to know which was the most casteist hindu legislative assembly then it was west bengal under left.....Importance of being an upper caste in Bengal House - Indian Express

The fact that the people who strike the stance are not upper caste does not prevent them from taking up a caste Hindu - not an upper caste Hindu, but a caste Hindu, as opposed to the Dalit - stance. Which is precisely what you and your leader have done.

And what makes you think that I am inclined to defend the West Bengal Assembly? We have discussed its shockingly casteist composition on PDF itself, but you were of course nowhere on the scene. Any sensible person will see through it, and through sixty years of upper caste domination of that state's politics, and condemn it. So what changes about the caste Hindu stance taken by Modi?

no...elitist, even in india, is supposed to be one.....who thinks he has the divine patent to judge others...one who thinks his intellect is superior to others, one who tries to beat down every other differing view as "bankrupt"....one who assumes a moralistic high position that may be laced with hypocrisy.... one who thinks he is the knight in shining armor for the oppressed and without whom they would have no hope....and finally one who thinks he is the right man to certify people with labels like "progressive", "liberal", "secular", "communal", "fascist" etc.....so far you fit the profile like a glove......

You know nothing and do not cease to expose that fact frequently and with feeling.

The elitist in India is the elite in the caste heirarchy. The caste Hindus who dominate the social structure, grind down the Dalit, hate the Muslim for not fitting into the sycophantic mould that they desire, loathe the Christians for similar reasons, plaster ghastly grins on their faces and ally themselves with strong groups like the Sikhs, and pretend that they were always open to the members of Buddhist society. Those were the greatest rebels against the corrupted Hindu society, they were also the greatest victims from time to time.

once again...the same 2002......hey listen....no one is here to listen to your sob stories....lets talk facts.....

Isn't it strange that you consistently avoid discussing facts, and want to discuss mythical MOUs instead?

this is what the aam admi thinks....Reviving secularism - Indian Express Mobile

Tavleen is bang on the buck....

Have you no ideas of your own? Swapan DasGupta, then Tavleen Singh, what an assortment. And you cite their statements and prove exactly what? These are just voices in the crowd, the kinds of authorities that the Sangh Parivar pulls in desperately, when there is no logical stand to be taken. That is when the Dharmendras and Hema Malinis are paraded as the voice of real India!

Keep debating on the age old and archaic "secularism vs communalism" and find yourself in the dustbin of dead ideas, if you are not there already....

Have you never noticed that it is your set of gangsters who cannot rise above this very low level of hatred? That they are devoid of any ideology beyond hating Muslims, for that matter, despising everyone who is not a caste Hindu? And you talk of others being in the dustbin? Bit difficult to talk to garbage without getting in the dustbin, don't you think?

bjp has not done 1/100th of the corruption the congress dynasty has unleashed on this country in 58 years of its governance......but why bother...they have given us socialism and "secularism"......so lets condone it......

The same old error.

People who loathe the BJP are not necessarily people who admire the Congress. Or people who are Marxists. They are just people who dislike cant and hypocrisy.

and btw when advani was accused of hawala...he resigned.....bangaru is no more in bjp......gadkari has been removed...yeddy and reddy are no more in bjp......this is how a political party should function....yet blind eyes cant see it......

........................

How jolly!

Rampant corruption in your party is all right because the corrupt get sacked when they get caught. And as for those who aren't caught, why rattle the skeletons in the cupboard? Let's talk about the Congress instead, even if nobody else is talking about them, or is even interested in them. It makes you look better, right, in comparison?

p.s: Or the mangler of English from Andhra

No, I consider the efforts of this and other jokers at currying favour with the neo-literate by showing a superficial facility with English as disgraceful or worthy of contempt. It is not that he spoke English badly, it is that he spoke English badly, but tried to pass it off as wit and talent.

..............it was totally worth it to see this frustrated response :enjoy:

Oh, here you are, replete with a dozen smileys. Getting quite expert in Pakinternetese, aren't we? For much the same reasons?

@ Joe Shearer- RSS has great ideas for India's growth. You are wrong there. Mohan Bhagawat, for instance, had a great idea when he saw that the reduction is pop growth rate among muslims is slower than among hindus- he said hindus should give up family planning and have more and more and more children instead of continuing to reduce our growth....ehhh....

we are not here to find out your verbosity, tell us what you think.
