I always believed this is how ancient ethnic Achaemenid royalty may have looked like. A mixture of central and western Iranic phenotype.

The 300 movie was a bit racist when I viewed it and i could not watch the dipiction of Persians in the movie

I found the movie quite distasteful and rather racist overtones, showing Persians mostly as savages , where the warriors were rather crude and unimaginative.

For some odd reason the Persian warriors / Arab warriors looked rather same from Hollywood's point of view

Appeared more less Arab gear most western folks think Arab/Persians are same group by the way

The excessive emphasis on abs in movie was a bit too much

No one ran around naked with spear in old times, you can be easily killed with a poison tip dagger or arrow if that was the case

But Hollywood is hollywood

Turkish/Persians/Arabs/Muslims are all viewed same way from Hollywood point of view

And I was not quite sure why the head of enemy was shown as a bald , feminine pieced / tattoed strange figure

Seemed like a very normal person on historic account


And from his features looks like any Arab/Persian in region

Most of the hollywood movies suck big time at facts, good only for entertainment. At the best it is terrible propaganda of epic proportions. Of course where do we have time to cross verify all the facts when ppl are busy fighting each other.

I like to watch only those science fiction or offbeat movies, rest of them are just bollywood minus songs + good cinematography.

300 Movie was little bit of dislike of Iranian , and thrown in dislike of Arabs and then also associate ideas of savagery and other atrociticies in nutshell

Not sure if it was this movie buy they also showed elephants in movie was confused a bit when elephants showed up

The real Cyrus won large territory of his time

So I doubt he was troubled by 300 idiots in speedo


Looking at the map of Ancient persia , it is quite easy to see why there are some cultural similarities between Pakistanis and Persians as at one point in time there was shared border so people have great similarities

Racially speaking, Iranians and Arabs a different thing. Overlap exists because we share the region but Iranians are termed as "Irano-Afghan" race with higher components from from anatolid, Turanid, armenoid and lesser influence from assyrid, southern semites etc.

So no doubt people must have routinely travelled across the regions openly but due to not having airplanes/ships doubt the travel was done often by many unless they were travelling with large carvans for major trade

In Pakistani Schools the education does not covers on this shared border in historic past that often, however there is some acknowledgement of similar words imported from Iranain to Urdu language

The school books perhaps need to revist a bit older maps to showcase closer collaboration in past

They were way off on one big thing the Persian didnt practice slavery under Xerxes but Greece was built on slavery it was because of the government system Persian introduced that they laid foundations of the great Roman Empire but no according to Hollywood non-white=savages

That is not true. Persia was an absolutistic, oriental tyranny. It had slaves and treated the areas it conquered brutal. Best example is egypt.
