You should have realised by now that you are a Chairman of a party, a large people pay heed to what you say, going open on everything is not an option anymore, you need to selective in your choice of words before you say anything, leave no room for getting trapped in future for what you say today. I would suggest next time when you say something keep these points in mind
- Media in whatever form is no one's friend ...... they are itches who when on heat go crazy
- Anything and everything you say will be used against you
- It is about the greater good and deception is a handy tool to achieve that
- We are not into entertainment industry, scandals are not healthy for our line of work
Now revisit your statement and edit it before it goes into archives and people save it for future reference..... you should have said something like
