.
The Automobile Love Scene in Japan :

This is one of the reasons why some 'well off' Chinese who have a fondness for automobiles and racing -- come back to Japan over and over again. ;)

I agree with you that Japan should have acknowledge those past crimes. Some of their leaders had try to in the past, but it all half measure. Compare to the USA though, the conversation of war crime against Japan committed by Americans are rarely discussed (Oliver Stone's Untold History of the United States) (a bit narratively bias but 100% truth). This of course had no relevant to China. So I am not trying to say 2 wrongs made a right.

I guess at the end of the day, it is your lost. I would love to visit Japan. Don't have the mean to do it right now.
Your logic is not acceptable. Japan was an aggressor in WWII and that's why they are punished. Nobody forces them to invade other countries.

What logic?? I agree with you 100%. I brought up the USA, but I said they are IRRELEVANT to the discussion at the same time from the perspective of the Chinese. Hence 2 wrongs do not make a right. What American did to the Japanese is between them and Japan. I brought it up because I want America to take up more responsibility with this shit. They got away with Spain, Philippines, Vietnam, Iraq, so for and so on. Yes, I am sort of distracted from your point. But I am also communicate not only to you but to that one Japanese person on here.

I said it is your lost that you don't want to visit Japan. And it is true, it is your lost. No but and if about it. There are plenty to enjoy in Japan.

Watch that documentary, and tell me whether or not Americans are too excessive with Japan like Japan with China (I said Japan did much much more horrible thing to China). People in power dictate war. Attack on civilians are unacceptable no matter what. When you microscope it, there is no Japan. There are just people.

Also it laughable if you think America care whether what they do to Japan was to punished them for what they did to China or elsewhere. There are many example, but the decision to drop the atomic bomb and the location for it has nothing to with China, or Japan surrendering, or whatever. It has everything to do with Russia.

Very well said.

That Japan endured two atomic bombs and deadly air raids cannot be viewed in modern times as a retaliation for what Japan did in China and East Asia overall during time wartime. These two are different.

Chinese are entitled to remember the pain and suffering brought upon them by the Imperial Japan.

And the Japanese are entitled to learn and remember the pain and suffering brought upon them by the US.

As for present day relations, China has just given Mr. Abe a rare opportunity to reflect upon the history and heal the feelings.

China confirms, in roundabout way, Japan invite for war memorial| Reuters

Let's see he will accept the invitation.

I guess a nice reception and a historic speech will reverse the negative tide, which, I believe, is already the case. I agree with @Nihonjin1051 , that, the 2014 poll may not reflect the present situation, especially ever since the meeting at APEC and the ensuing bilateral-trilateral (South Korea) high-level meetings.

@Keel , one quick point, my friend, as for the particular events in HK, I vividly remember Nihonjin has decried the protesters and kept pointing out the importance of the unity and stability of China as well as the success of its government. In that regard, in my memory, he is distinct from, for example, Vietnamese and Indian members, who almost went berserk at the first sight of an unstable China.

Even though I may have differences of opinion as to the Japan-US military partnership and the US military presence in Japan, I still appreciate his academic and fair approach to the importance of respecting each other's sovereignty and internal affairs.

agreed on A bombing were to show the new toys to Russians while Japan was already surrendering as Russian troops coming down from north.

Japan is a fine place. I really enjoyed my time in Japan & still remember a fond & interesting conversation, with an elderly staff in a tourist office, talking about his favorite ryokan. But of course I will hammer the Japanese govt. with full force with regards to WWII history. Still one must cut a clean sword to separate black from white, the common people deserve to live the present life of peaceful interaction while remembering the past.

There were a lot of stuffs Americans did. Even before the atomic bombs, many of the American generals fear that they had become like Nazi Germany. I am just really really tired. In certain population, Americans are extremely racist against Asian. Even till this day, I read at least 1 or 2 comments a week about how someone regret not nuking Vietnam. In fact, the American gave such an offer to France. And thank gosh, France didn't took that offer. It funny too, the Americans viewed the Japanese in high regard until the events prior to WW2, then they switch around and attribute all the shit they had about the Chinese to the Japanese. Filipinos are nothing but monkeys to them. And boy, I was watching Heart and Mind documentary. For some weird notions, the Americans that was in charged think that Asians don't put as much worth into individual human life.

"The Oriental doesn't put the same high price on life as does a Westerner. Life is plentiful. Life is cheap in the Orient."

About Vietnam

"Well, if it wasn't for the people, it was very pretty. The people over there are very backward and very primitive, and they just make a mess out of everything

Those are the same sort of belief that go through people head when considering drone strike, or carpet bombing, etc and etc. They are not like us. They don't care about life.

I guess I am of the younger generation. So it was still quite a shock to heard those views from people that are still alive.

lol, I guess it bound to happened sooner or later. Maybe when the Japanese larger society stop with their history revisionist, Monsanto will apologized for Agent Orange.

Let me check with your comment there because I have a different impression. There might be subsequent comments that I am not aware of

@Nihonjin1051
I have question in regard to Japanese cuisine. I like sushi (too expensive compare to other asian foods but I guess it is sea food). But Japanese soup and noodle soup had been underwhelming. Miso soup taste like a bowl of salt. Ramen was :( I was dying to eat real ramen for year. 3 or 4 times I tried it in various of Japanese restaurant in America, they weren't very good as in comparison to some of chinese noodle soup or Viet noodle soup.

What other dishes should I tried?? I have some sort of octopus dish and it was great.

Udon noodle soup and ramen are the 'Americanized' version of Japanese noodle dishes.

I recommend you go deeper into Japanese cuisine, buddy!

If Japan was not the aggressor, nobody drops bomb on them. Can we have this clear? If we have atomic bomb, instead of the USA, we would drop on them too. Remember Japan also kill US civilians. What the US did was retaliate and it also save Japan from total annihilation. Think of the battle of Berlin (the deadliest battle, rival the Stalingrad battle). More civilians would have died if the US don't drop the atomic bomb. As the aggressor in a war, they don't deserve sympathy.

Again, since you are Chinese you should know real well. In China history, the lords play war doesn't matter whether or not the civilians want to. Perhaps even the citizens want to but nothing but propaganda to manipulate the masses (the Japanese are pretty proud so I am pretty sure even the citizens want to). I disagree. All this stuffs have been declassified, it ain't a secret. The dropping of the atomic bomb has nothing to do with the Japanese surrendering. Saying otherwise is historical revisionist. You have the freedom to feel whatever you want to feel. But you don't get to dictate how other feel. The Japanese and the Americans are a tad different. Both are pretty arrogant, the former probably more willing to go to war during the world wars. But to this day, I do have some empathy for some American soldiers for being drafted, being lie to, risking their lives for nothing, destroying their humanity in the process. Maybe they don't deserved YOUR sympathy. Let just ended it that way because it is arrogant of me to tell you how to feel or persuade you otherwise.

Again, you don't seem to grasp the idea of an aggressor shouldn't deserve any sympathy. Nobody put a gun into their head demand that they have to invade other countries. They are simply greedy and got punish for it. It is that plain simple.

There are several factors the US drop atomic bomb on it. Most of it politically. There were fraction within the Japanese government who wanted to fight to the dead. These fraction control the resistant force and it is the most vocal. When the US dropped atomic bomb, it saved Japan from being post-war Germany which was split in two fraction as you know the West/East Germany at that time. It is a win-win situation for Japan and the US. Think of it like killing one ant to save the whole colony of ants. And I repeat again, they don't deserve sympathy. Nobody sympathizes with Nazi German and Nazi German citizens suffered A LOT MORE than Japanese.
