Why Chinese Tourists Love Japan

You are quite right bro, Japanese products are of great quality, and for sure that's one reason behind this shopping spree. Beyond durable consumer goods, apparels and FMCG, Japanese cultural goods are also selling like hot cakes here too, though some Korean cultural product lines seems to have an upper-hand these few years.

On that note, Chinese goods are popular in Japan , and there is an obsession on Chinese cultural products.

Last year over 5 million Japanese tourists visited Greater China (Mainland, Taiwan, HK, Macao).

More Japanese visit China than any other country. More than America. ;)

reposted for this thread. :D.

i'm for more people to people exchanges in general. be it tourism or business Chinese and Japanese can actually get along well if we put the toxic politics away for a while.

not so optimistic on top governmental level though i'm sure they are trying...

The public opinions of the Japanese are going from bad to worse
And their people are voting a right wing PM into office again
They initiated "buying" of Diaoyu Islands and standing firm refusing to recognise there is a conflict over the sovereignty of the territory
Their parliament is going for stronger militarisation of their army and to change the constitution Article 9,
Just take a look at our celebrated member @Nihonjin1051 san's stance to get a bit of idea of how the Japanese are posing themselves out to the world。 Which side was he supporting during the "umbrella movement" in HK?
Who are the Japanese siding with now on numerous issues which affect our core national interest?

I dont mind cultural / commercial / scientific exchanges but now people are going overboard!
They are worshipping anything Japanese

Looking at those people cheering on the launch of the Japanese warship has really made me sickened!

You are sounding more like an Uyoku Dantai than anything. There are lunatic Japanese who sound like you, who lambast other Japanese like myself for being interested in Chinese culture, politics, people, history. I've been called a "traitor" before by some crazy bozos online in Japanese forums.

But let me tell you this; those who are extremists like that are few and far in between. Unfortunately for them they DO NOT represent the majority of Japanese.

We are just like Chinese people , dude. We value family and hard work above all else, we value success at work, we value the importance of enjoying the fruits of one's hard work. We value beauty, delicate nature , we value music, food! We are, like Chinese people, also easily influenced by sensationalism and are sensitive to that.

Japanese people have better things to do than wake up hating Chinese, and going to bed hating Chinese. Is that going to pay our bills at the end of the month? Is hating Chinese going to drive us to work in the morning ? Is hating Chinese going to takenus to school to pick up our kids from recitals? Off course not. The average Japanese could really care less about politics.

And most Japanese Nationalists like myself would prefer that a fraternal civilization like China would be a friend and ally than an enemy or competitor.

So stop reiterating and telling me a Japanese how Japanese people are like. I think inwould know more than you on that aspect , OK?

Which statement that I have presented above @#32 is not representing the fact?
If there is any statement that is untrue then I withdraw it from my comment

SECOND,

I find your choice of words very paltry to my taste. You claim that some Chinese "WORSHIP" goods or products from Japan. That's just untrue, how can you misinterpret positive appraisal for worship? So liking and appraising a product is bad and akin to treason? Do you even hear (read) yourself ?

OK, so I LOVE Chinese calligraphy , Chinese cuisine, Chinese women (I dated a Chinese lady for over 3 years), love Chinese language (I've studied Cantonese and TeowChew) , I own Chinese AC units in my house, I shop at a Chinese owned super market ---- so does that label me as a Japanese traitor? Perhaps Uyoku Dantai should label me a Chinese instead of Japanese then eh? LOL!

Bottom line, admiring something does not equate to "worshiping" lol. You're just too sensitive and emotional buddy. Take it easy and relax. Maybe next time we can go to a piano bar to relax eh? Smoke some cigars and listen to some good music .

Who knows maybe @Yizhi @Shotgunner51 @TaiShang @AndrewJin @Chinese-Dragon @SvenSvensonov @Gabriel92 @Armstrong can also join us . :)

And I also give positive appraisal on Chinese warships in the CDF section. I've also really admired the type 055, 054 and the PLAN's new defensive arrays, have openly admired the Chinese maturation in building an active fleet escort presence in the Persian Gulf among many others.

So should Ultranationalist Japanese call my actions as "WORSHIPING" the Chinese Military?

It's called admiration and respect. Your choice of words is excessive, that is all. Japan and China are not enemies, Japanese and Chinese are not enemies but partners, so why should you regard us am with so much disdain?

PEACE!

Come on bro, relax! :-)

Most of the posters are just separating politics from daily livings, I for one, let me reiterate again and again, hate WWII Revisionism, hate Imperial Militarism. I guess probably it's less sensitive to appreciate Korean or Taiwan cultural products for then no one would be labeled in a negative way.

Putting politics aside, the ground reality is that contemporary Japan is the most noble and civilized society on this planet, unmatched in self-discipline (律), self-motivation (勤), social etiquette (礼), credibility (信),vision (智), courage (勇) and social consciousness (仁义). Instead of worship, we should pay respect to those qualities which were founded in the Middle Kingdom over 2500 ago but gone during the last 2 centuries, because these are probably the very qualities why Japan stands as the most advanced and futuristic country today.

Back on the politics, let's see what's going on between military-industrial-complex backed neocons in Washington and WWII Revisionists in Tokyo working on one side, VS. neo-communists in Beijing on the other side.

May be but there aint any visible Japanese nationals on board so I cant tell

Enemies or not. let the political stance of our countries speak for themselves
In some way we are partners but in hard core subjects we are not partners
I dont view the Japanese with disdain at all
I have not used any derogatory terms against the Japanese except at the WW2 imperialists in a few instances before

Of course
Let's drink to that
thank you

Media needs to stop with the sensationalist style as well. Normal everyday people in Japan who don't know full detail of history and politics get affected by Japanese media of showing angry Chinese people burning Japanese flags, or destroying Japanese cars as in the last anti Japan protest.

In that aspect, Japanese are very sensitive and reactionary. There is a consensus that Chinese people hate Japanese, so the people respond by having negative impressions on China.

What's interesting is that by 2010 and earlier , image of Chinese people and China was extremely positive. So what does that mean ? Politics and media sensationalism is to be blamed. The sooner we normalize relations , work together on political cooperation , resolve historical issues, then the sooner repair can occur.

Polls are subject to change , they merely reflect opinion during a particular time, and are thus subject to change. The last poll was taken in 2014, that means it was recorded sometime before recent political gains between the two. I'm sure that new poll will reflect the positive developments this far.

Lastly, let's all be wary of media's overly sensational style. In the attempt to make a profit , they would jeapordize relations of Japan and China. Interestingly enough its WESTERN media that posits regularly.
agreed on media's venom. there are translations of Japanese netizen comments on those negative news in Chinese internet.... which is only making the situation even worse....
TBH i'm just tired of the overemotional reactions. lots good people out there in both countries and it's such a waste of time to sorely focus on those negative narratives.

Yeah I am confident. Actually the Japanese auto-expert friends here in Shanghai help give advices to the fans starting auto-parts business, build garages that match/surpass any garage in Tokyo, build racing teams, construct new racing circuits. They also said that very soon quality here in Shanghai would just be the same as in Tokyo & Taipei, good news!

i understand how you feel and but i think just criticizing Japanese stand or be angry at anything Japanese do or say is not productive. if it's geopolitics then let's have discussion on the calculation of national interests. if it's history we can discuss the role of Japanese military in WWII and i have family story in NE as backup. or discuss exactly how many Japanese are sincere of their 'apology' or not.

I think the ultimate thing to consider is geopolitics which boils down to national interests in which China and Japan have the largest divide. AIIB is a case in point

Cheers

On this note I wrap up my discussion here for today
