What's new

Where did Iran get its military arms over the last 70 years?

Well elephant is a beauty isn't it? It was meant for speed not maneuvering so that's why that phrase... Iran I don't think will spend more cash for those jets... It's just too old. I expect Iran to get some Russian jets as America won't sell anything that Iran mite be interested in.

at low speeds an f-14 is more maneuverable than f-15 but when you increase the speeds then the F-14 and its weaker engine lag behind in that regard.

But then wouldn't f14 still be in service in place of f14? Wait both have a degree of turn of 26 isn't it?

F-14 was replaced by F/A-18 for a number of reasons that included corruption, short sightedness, and cost. It was a far more capable airframe than the F/A-18 in all sectors but maneuvrability, and even then it managed to get a gun kill in its only stimulated combat against an F-15 (2v2, both eagles downed).

Elephant? That's a curious phrase for the most beautiful aircraft ever.

The Tomcats are about 40 years old. Iran got parts on the black market for the first 1 or 2 decades, while building up domestic production. With all American F-14s shredded, I expect Iran manufactures all the parts it needs for the F-14.

The F-14 has one of the if not the highest maintenance hours required per flight than any other fighter jet in the world so the Idea that Iran could supply parts for it's F-14's off the black market for almost 40 years even if it wanted too is delusional especially after U.S. shredded all it's F-14's!

Right at the start of the Iran-Iraq war Iran's Air Force realized that supplying part off the black market wasn't going to be a feasible option and to keep these birds flying they would need to start reverse engineering parts and as you said by 2000 vast majority of the parts that were required were being produced at home.

So what's the degree of turn? Curious

I can find credibility in your comment. This is more possible of an outcome.

I mean why do you need to produce Carbon Fiber if you can't produce anything!

Yea Iran doesn't know how to build artilleries! They are all old American or Chinese... They don't know how to build anything!

They are still using old American bomb's in their Air Force who said they used them all in only 8 years of war with Iraq!

They still have the old American Tows US gave them!

Build armored vehicle! yea right

.
They import some N.Korean Sub and claim to have built it!

All their MRBM are based off the Scud-C and use scud-c engines all imported from Russia and N.Korea

Thay can't even build missile boats let alone ships...

They have like 100 helicopters most of them badly maintained and are bairly operational due to lack of part and lack of properly trained personal

.
UAV's LOL! they have a few RC toys you can buy at the hobby shop!

And like a never ending story it keeps on going
