Come on, the gathering in your picture is from the well-known Mysore Dussehra in which, as far as I know, the Wadiyar royals are the main leaders. This Wikipedia entry for Mysore Dussehra has no mention of Tipu Sultan parading the Wadiyars in order to insult them.

Is it is from the Mysore Dussehra when the Wadyar King comes out in a parade. Its a 407 years old custom and was practiced by Tipu too. It was Raja Wadiyar, who started the tradition of celebrating Dasara in a grand way in 1610. It was the Wodeyars way of honouring their family deity, Chamundi.

Its hilarious you reference Wiki as some authentic site for facts.

You can read "History of Tipu Sultan" by by Mir Hussein Ali Khan Kirmani, who was a contemporary of both Haidar and Tipu who gives details account of the Dusara celebration by Tipu.


If Tipu wanted to get rid of Wodeyar, there was no need for him to publicly celebrate Dusara for the family deity of the Wodeyar kings, for 10 days as a state festival.
