only apple pie with ice cream, other than that I agree pie is terrible desert and specially Pumpkin Pie which i call a throw up pie
I guess you have never had blueberry pie. or southern pecan pie. Even sweet potato pie is amazing. but than again we take pie pretty seriously in the us, and it seems people from other parts of the world dont have that appreciation.

Conflicted Pie is good for fall weather but Ice Cream Cake kicks them both in the rear

Wow Brother ur's truly also like Carrot cake :enjoy::kiss3:

I am lucky that the missus can make it well (cream cheese frosting and all) without my input anymore... She is turning into quite the cheesecake expert too (tho cheesecake is a whole different category to regular cakes). I make both better (having a small town baker as roommate for many years in college and after helped a lot in that)...but gotta let the missus improve you know :)

Like I said, open invitation to you and the rest of friendly PDF gang here from us....lot of good food you will enjoy hehe in the great white frozen north.

Nothing quite like being outside in the cold and snow for hours...then come inside to warmth for some carrot cake, cinnamon treats and hot chocolate next to the fireplace! It hits the spot deep in human soul like nothing else!

Carrot is one of my favorite cakes. Truely underated. However when it cones to comfort food nothing comes close to a steaming-hot blueberry pie. Pecan is also good.

Pie is more of North American delocacy Cake and pastries rule the world
Very true. Each part of the country has its own type of pies. In New England its apple and blueberry, and cherry, in the south its pecan, sweet potatoe, and key lime. I have even heard of a sweet tea pie. As you may tell, i am a huge pie fan, i like most pies. The only exception is cherry. Its a bit to sour unless the cherries are exactly in season.

I also dont like bananas, so i was never a huge fan of banana cream pie.

I agree...I am just much more picky about pies than cakes in general. Again baker buddy helped me a lot in refining my pie palate (w.r.t especially the crust)...but the end result is the regular mass produced stuff (where they add too much sugar and additives and forego quality butter etc) just doesn't quite hit the spot for me much anymore (though a good filling proportion goes long way in me not saying no).

You are quite right about blueberry pie tho, when done right. Cant wait for blueberry season again, we got nice places here to go picking them (wild blueberries). Another thing we pick in the area fresh is rhubarb, dunno if you have had fresh rhubarb pie...its delish.

i remember when I was growing up in Massachussetts, my mom would take me to pick wild blueberries. Those were the good days. Unfortunately Florida is too hot for blueberries.

I lived 15 years in US, initially liked pumpkin pie for first few times and that was it. To live in north America and not trying all kind of pies is unthinkable.
