@Blueindian I see your asking me about Hindu in Indonesia ???

Hindu in Indonesia is concentrated in Bali island. I actually never met any Hindu in Jakarta whole my life. I have met several Indian Indonesians in Jakarta, but dont ask about their religion

Do you know we have Sikh community in Jakarta ?

@Indos is there a Muslim community from south Asia in Indonesia, I have seen some Indonesians on the internet claiming that their grandmother, grandfather, or even before that were either Pakistani or go specifically into ethnic groups like Punjabi, Baloch, or Pathan (they usually don't say the correct word Pashtun)
I have a feeling that Sikhs and Hindus of south Asia managed to preserve their identity while Muslims weren't as successful and got mixed in over time

lol what was an Afridi doing in Nicobar?
He murdered a fellow relative in Afghanistan or today's kpk ,I'm not sure .
When he went on leave there , as he was serving in some cavalry unit of Brit indian army at ambala .
He committed a crime which was nothing serious to be honest , could have been sent to numerous jails in the mainland .
Brits wanted all trouble some elements away from mainland so afridi goes to andaman. To do kala pani and stuff even though he was no political prisoner but just your simple common god fearing murderer.
He showe good conduct in andaman so he was allowed to roam freely out of prison , unlike political prisoners.
Fellow waited for his time to kill the top guy. Some one told him. Viceroy was the big fella , so he was out of prison when viceroy came to visit .
And shot him dead or something

Later after sometime , within a day Afridi was also shot dead by the brits

if he was serving in the British army then he was probably from FATA

Yep, for Muslim, it is easier to get mixed. Mostly the one that is easily find in Jakarta is Arab and Chinese.

Pakistani is present, but rather rare

This is one example, all family, Muslim, but looks different, one of them is very Pakistani looking

Maybe it is what you are looking for @Sainthood 101 She could be mixed blood Indian-Indonesian as the name is very Indian. She live in Bali, so 75 % possibility she maybe Hindu and it explain the easy mixing

I bet during ancient time when Indonesia is still Hindu, this kind of mixing is rather frequently happening

She's very pretty, might well have some.. she could easily be from west Bengal or Assam etc, but not the proper Indian north east, where people have very oriental features like the Chinese.

After I check, Laksmi from Bali look more like South East Asian, maybe because she is Hindu then using Laksmi name

Here I found another Indian mixed by looking to last name Dhillon, could be Sikh. Participant from Maluku province for 2022

I don't think outsiders can tell apart people in south Asia, but different regions have different features, cause skin color can vary, anyone can be fair or dark but features are usually similar region wise
what she is calling Pakistani isn't Pakistani but includes northwest India too, almost every bordering state is included

her husband is Bangali (sylhetis are atypical from the rest of Bengal) and there's a lot of east/south east Asian influence in northeast South Asia in phenotype
Central India etc are very diverse can never pinpoint them, south Indians from my experience are tall, definitely among the taller south Asian people groups, darkish and curvy hair- if come together in a perfect way south Indians and Northwest south Asians can look very beautifulthen other groups of South Asians

I didn't realize how good south Indians look before I moved to the US (not every south Indian of course but the ones who get good height, and curly hair, are not fat, they can definitely look good on a global level)

Man. I tough it is Punjabi that is tall, not South Indian. I see comment section in YT channel about basketball, there is Indian saying all the players are Punjabis
