in my last job place, i tried creating a employees union, with participation of a few others, of course... but much before that i understood that generally people in india don't bother with helping others, until it is their turn to suffer.
so my method of change is through non-profit business in the field of computer design ( processor design and os design )... but i hesitate to tell you more because of your prof background.
