I really should not drag this any farther, its not worth our time. But look at the big picture: Shahjahan was one of the most powerful monarchs of the world, probably the richest man. He certainly had a passion for spending money on monuments. Why would he elect to renovate a temple and convert it? This makes no sense.
If at all he has done that then i think it would be for the awesome spot on yamuna's bank.

Building Taj Mahal was a team project. Its design elements are not exclusively Persian, or Central Asian, or South Asian. And this is what makes it the great building that it is. If someone were to focus on Indian elements to make a claim along ethno-religious lines then that is their problem. If someone insists on finding something, they will somehow do it. That was the case with P. N. Oak and others like him. They will ignore a million things to focus on one that will raise suspicion, not prove their case. People who think like him will do the rest all by themselves armed with just suspicion.

Its not history, its psychology. That is why he is considered a Mythistorian and Crank.
Seriously I may be adding fuel to this controversy by posting my observations about tajmahal here.So yeah I should stop here.
But tajmahal is worth a visit. The architecture and the thought process that has gone into creating Tajmahal is amazing.
So are you planning to visit tajmahal?? :azn:
what say?

yaaawwwnn worthy!!!

kidding!!

I agree to one part of the article that Aurangzeb's history should be rewritten. He wasn't as bad as most of the history books depict him to be.He put his own father under house arrest when he thought his brothers and father had become very lavish in their spending. And do you know that Aurangzeb never took a single gold coin from the royal treasure?
I want to read more about that man....someday. :-)
Thanks for that article.

Aaap classroom mein kahan hotiii thiii....you used to spend the entire day playing Volleyball !

I think that was probably because initially they simplified things & later on astronomy only gets the occasional mention in later classes (pre-college). Only later if you're going to go for a Undergrad in it would one be most likely exposed to these bits & pieces of information !

I think its a little like how I was taught Chemistry - in the O'Levels they taught the Atomic Model which in the A'Level turned out to be wrong but taught for simplicity purposes at that stage !

A'Levels mein tou huddd hi kar diii - Pauli's Exclusion Principle, Wave Theory & other such things that pretty much nullified whatever we were taught about the Atomic Structure as O'Level students ! :undecided:

Its a good thing I dropped Chemistry after a year of being tortured by it otherwise I'd have gone crazy if I had studied it the entire 2 years of A'Levels !

Pauli's Exclusion Principle states XYZ or Bohor's Model states thus - Achaaa tou mein kiyaa karooon ? Bhangraa dalooon ? :chilli:
These days whenever I reply back to your posts I end up getting a warning or a prewarning for posting off topic. And the admin so conveniently ignores the fact that its always you who starts posting off topic on serious threads.
Naah Admin I am not complaining :disagree:....its just a reminder to this cartoon called @Armstrong that he should stop provoking me to post OTs on topical forums.

Naah not volleyball but basketball. :agree:
Volleyball is the only game which I avoided playing because of thin wrists and it hurt like hell.
Otherwise I was a regular student never bunked much.:disagree:
And like you I hated chemistry....worst was organic chemistry.:bad:
Thankfully in engineering I had to study chemistry for just one semester.

Me & Off Topic ? :o:

Where ? The OP stated that the Solar System is taught incorrectly in Classrooms & your post that I quoted later on stated the same thing - In reply to that to impress upon you the notion behind why it was taught the way it was taught, I drew an analogy with Chemistry as it was taught in the O'Levels vs how it was taught in the A'Levels - That was perfectly relevant !

@WebMaster - She is trying to frame me for something I didn't do ! :(

Please Ban her until she apologizes to me ! :azn:

Basketball - Wouldn't it be a sight to see a midget playing Basketball !

Wait...I looked the same when playing with my 6'5 friends ! :o:

hey, @Indischer we had a guest lecturer from the Techsniche Universitat Dresden :)

He gave a talk on the state of consultancy in Germany. He said there was an expert oriented culturein Germany as there were a lot of PhD and Masters students in Germany :-)

is this true?

Pretty much.....right from the Masters level, there aren't any generic courses to be had. Each course is tailored to enable students to move deeper into a specific topic rather than touch upon a host of others. As a result, the industry gets people who fit in much better in specific domains and competencies.

What was the topic on which he gave the lecture, btw? :)

Dunno much about prospects in the medical field, unfortunately. But I'll find out and let you know. AFAIK, it depends on which area of specialization they choose. Depending on what they learnt in MBBS, sometimes students are advised to take up a few additional subjects to bring their competence in that area on par with German Doctor students.

I guess this set of FAQs is also informative.

He was a former IT consultant who worked with Bain Consultancy in Germany (they are not that big, despite being one of the biggest in the world).

He specifically talked about his research in off-shoring related to the IT industry. U.K and North America outsourcing makes up a major chunk of what the Indian IT industry gets.

Whereas German IT industry off-shoring is very low. Even if they do it, a lot of it goes to nearby Eastern European countries.

As he explained, through his research where he talked to a lot of German Industry leaders, it was a mix of reasons.

Germans have a corporate culture of loyalty to the firm. Some Indian companies like Tata Consultancy has tried to reach out to the German market but has met with limited success.

Some of it has to do with language and culture clashes. Some of the German IT industry experts were frankly not all that impressed with the quality of work done :D

Don't know what this means for future German-Indo trade relations though. I am willing to guess the existing trade is anaemic.

Always good to hear from such men. IMO, the German industry is a stickler for tradition. And they traditionally make the best of products and processes! Indian industry has a lot of catching-up to do to come near German standards, and the difference is actually starkest in the IT industry. I can safely say there is a lot of laxity in following set industry norms and standards even in the IT sector.
