What were you doing when 9/11 happened ?

I left home early with my very young son to run errands.
We lived in the same timezone and a friend seated at a café
hailed me as we came out of the ATM since he had heard it
on the radio.
As I turned to rush home, I met my best buddy and he came
along as I had all the TV channels.
My telltale moment was when my son asked :

-Daddy, why did the big houses fall down?

The friend had warned me immediately after the live radio call
so that the three of us watched it all live except the first impact.

I got back from high school to home. Opened the tv and saw scenes like "Burning tower, a plane crashing into a tower, etc... I thought, "Why they are airing a movie in this time of day" and switched the channel... I saw the same scenes again and this time, i thought..."Lol, they airing the same movie at the same time in the two different channels".... again switched the channel....and when i see the scenes again....i thought there was something off, and begin listening.....

I was in the bronx trying to figure out why it took the air force to scramble their jets so late.
Architects,Firemen,Police officers were shocked and didn't know what happened but some random bozo on the news did.
Bush was more interested in a children's story book called my pet duck not what just happened.
In white dominated areas people with brown skin were attacked not just muslims. albanians who are muslims were also attacking people with brown skin in staten island.

I got the day off,So i just relaxed which is very hard to do in NY

I had an ex-girlfriend who worked in there and spent the next 9 hours wondering if she was dead. Luckily she was late for work and didn't make it in. She emailed me back at around 7pm.

Was she your ex at that time? Or your gf? Those 9 hours wait would be so horrible, I could imagine.

@Topic I was a kid (not even a teenager) to understand anything. It took me several years to understand anything as terrible had took place in history.

I was doing high-school homework after dinner (this was in Singapore)...TV was off...my dad was in the hall just chilling reading a book I think. Mom was in kitchen....sister in her room I think.

Then I got the phone call from my school friend....and I first thought he was pulling some prank. When he assured me he was not, I hung up and rushed to the hall and turned the TV on....and sure enough one tower was ablaze....and we watched the other plane crash in a bit later. My friend called again a bit later and I remember telling him....well someone is going to pay for this big time.

I won't forget that night ever....it was a pretty long one....and then it was a real tough day at school after. I didn't know what to say to my American friends.....but we did talk about it as a class in English class. Just let it all out etc.

I was very young at the time. All I remember of the day is that it was my first day back to school and I had come home and was playing on the floor as I saw the towers collapse. At that age the enormity of what I was seeing did not even remotely register.

I was in high school at that time and probably missed the news when it happened(was too busy with homework perhaps)..I read about it on next day's newspaper after one of our batchmates mentioned it.

I was having exams then. I remember watching the clips repeatedly on TV. Next day had discussions with classmates, but none of us ever imagined the kind of repurcussions the incident would have.
Knew a Muslim guy who used to often chat with his elder cousin sis in US. Once his cousin sis told me she feared for her life.
She still lives in US.
