If IAF needs planes fast, it can't rely just on France. Imagine times of war, would it wait for Framce or get anything from anyone? F35 are good and so are the next gen F15. If they can wait, then good.

127 are a lot of planes so they can do 60-60 if they want the jets fast.

It wont be feasible to set up production line just for 60 planes. The current plan is to get 18 planes directly from the manufacturer, this means that the first sqd will be raised pretty fast.

For Christ's sake, we have reached the Moon and have a complicated Mars orbiter mission going, and launching 10 satellites into space simultaneously on a single rocket ain't a walk-in-the-park. And who landed the Curiosity rover on Mars? An Indian working at NASA!! That's more than what the French have achieved!!

The French will give in soon. It just takes one line from the government to say that L2 choice (the second alternative) is open for negotiation (could be EFT or Gripen NG) and Mr. Fabius will agree instantly. Dassault wants $20 billion upfront but won't give TOT which was a part of the whole tender.

Why participate if they were not willing to agree first?

Yea good luck trying to convince us.

I think now they have agreed on TOT but sticking point still remaining is that India wants French to grantee the quality of parts manufactured by HAL. It's just like civil nuclear liability clause.
