What's new

what India gave to the world!!!!!!

Have you read it? Do you know what are his comments about people of "Al-Hind" aka Hindus?
Yeah I read them..he said your ancestors (before mixing with Muslims ) used to smear dung on bodies, used to blow noses while talking to others etc..but he also said Hindus are extremely religious, knowledgeable.. he noted that Hindus believe that every thing that is to be learnt is there in Vedas (I was astonished when I read this because after 900 years even now many Hindus believe this )..Al beruni had a lot of praise for the knowledge Hindus possess...he didn't have a high opinion of Sanskrit because of its complexity and pronunciation...he says many Sanskrit syllables have consonant +consonant + vowel form which makes it difficult for Arabs or Persians to pronounce them (like sparsha or praanam)...he dealt a major part in describing puranas which I skipped.
After reading it I developed a sense of respect for Al beruni..we have a low opinion of ancient people and their knowledge..but after reading it I realised how small I am when compared to such geniuses..he inspired me and gave me confident that a person can learn so many things in his time irrespective of your age(he was above 50 when he learnt Sanskrit and Hinduism)

Indians are a force in US but beware of statistics - Thaindian News

"New York, March 16 (IANS) Indian professionals in the US truly make India proud, but the statistics quoted in parliament to highlight their contributions are either overstated or unverifiable, a scrutiny of available data reveals. Minister of State for Human Resource Development D. Purandeswari had sought to reveal some statistics in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house, last week, ascribing impressive numbers to Indians who are contributors to the US’ knowledge economy.
Thirty-eight percent of doctors in the US are Indians, as are 36 percent of the scientists at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and 34 percent of Microsoft employees, the minister said.

The statistics have since invited critical comments on the internet, with many bloggers and internet chain mails describing the data as being exaggerated and with no verifiable claims - even as some others defended the Indian minister.

The data on doctors evokes similar answer, with a spokesperson for the American Medical Association saying out of 900,000 doctors in the US, 720,000 actually see patients and of them 48,000 have degrees from India."

The largest numbers the Greeks and the Romans used were 106

funny that despite that "fact", the "indian space research organization" ( isro ) hasn't been able to send a single person to space in its 50+ years of existence.

well, if the chiefs of isro keep visiting temples to break coconuts, it hardly describes a organization with scientific temper...

The Deccan Herald report also said that his actions are also in violation of Article 51AH of the Indian constitution which states that it is the duty of every citizen of the country to develop scientific temper and the spirit of inquiry and humanism.

So is it compulsory that all scientists and rationalists should be atheist?

the chief of a government space agency should be a questioning and sensitive person, willing to plot to bring every resource of his country into making a organization that will send humans to explore the reaches of space and settle on worlds just for the sake of it.

radhakrishnan was not such a person nor will isro ever be such a organization.

I like the way how to dodge my question. How is his efficiency or anyone else's efficiency with his work defined by his religious views?
