what will happen ? it will take another 15-20 years for the potentials in brics to actually become a contender to the west. till then, its a catchup still.

secondly, however these brics countries flourish, they have to come upto western standards of society. otherwise the west will always remain the west.

thirdly, today 1914 will be played economically and on cyberworld. conflicts will barely be let to escalate beyond repair. see ukraine...how contained it is, from both the sides. see afpak..see middle east...idea is to stop a 1914...worse...1939..

I would much rather live in the "Beast" of EU then in US where people are denied medical treatment on the basis of affordability to pay.

Back to EU: In that case the powers of the EU Parliament would have to increase that it would have control of foreign and defence policy at least. There would be an EU cabinet that would run EU and national leaders would be reduced to domestic affairs. I am not sure whether the EU peoples would accept this yet. Possible that the emergence of multipolar world would change people's opinion.

That's old news, US evangelical wackos now view Obama and his health care reform are the Beast and Obama is Satan incarnate who wants to put all Americans on welfare. The EU has taken back stage moslty.

This century will be an " Asian Century ".

Lets call it what it is a Chinese century,no other Asian power is trying hard enough to match them,but with the advent of new govt my hope in India is reignited by 2015 things will become more clear.

A Chinese century will most likely be economic, they currently own the US. Most likely they are looking to do the same with Pakistan and own them too. Rest of Muslim countries are a capitalist dreamland, high population growth and low education = sweat shops galore and cheap products. Yes, my point exactly. A multi-polar world will not be the unicorn-land that everyone here believes it will be. History shows that it will be an unstable struggle for dominance, ending in war. Just like before WWII. Just like before WWI. Just like before the Franco-Prussian War. Just like before the Napoleonic Wars. De-Dollarization Spreads : Swiss & Chinese Central Banks Enter Swap Agreement

The Swiss National Bank and the People’s Bank of China reached a currency swap agreement on Monday.

While this is not a huge trend changer in the near-term, it demonstrates that our forecast for China to become the largest economy and to be the next financial capital of the world when Europe and the USA blow themselves apart with defaulting socialism is on track.

This agreement will allow the two central banks to buy and sell their currencies up to a limit of 150 billion renminbi, or 21 billion Swiss francs ($23.4 billion).

That just means China hasn't provoked them yet, with China the provoking will be less violent and more sublime it's unavoidable when dealing with powerful nations whether it's violent or not.
