Cricket has become boring game now. I havent watched a single over in Pak/Aus tour.

There's a little fault of team management and selectors. There's no talent coming up in Pakistan to be honest. People who say that there's talent, well there might be, but talent without hard work and polishing produces the kind of team that Pakistan is now.

Back in 70s and 80s, and the first half of 90s, children would play on streets, in the grounds, in schools, and everywhere. My school's single physical education teacher hailed from interior Sindh. He was such a nice guy... he forced school management to make room for inter-classes, inter-schools tournaments, and sports days. People who grew up in 90s in Karachi might remember, there were many play grounds, which contained cricket, hockey and football fields. Yes, there was no grass, and the pitches were made of cement, but still, each couple of blocks in Federal B Area where I spent my childhood had a ground.. There used to be several sports complexes. Our school would book the one that was opposite national stadium (now there's nothing there, or the area has been encroached or whatever).

There was an international player who came from my school.. he has played closed to 20 years of cricket for Pakistan team. I have played cricket with Asad Shafiq (he was quite young but showed talent from his early teams and played with people in their 20s.) And to be honest, there were so many other players who we thought would probably make into the national team. For example, Shahid Afridi's elder brother was thought to become a second Imran Khan (he was an amazing bowler, who imitated IK). But two is not a bad number from one district. Point I am making here is that talent was there, but there were efforts and infrastructure to polish their talent.

I have taken part in the following tournaments other than cricket in my childhood:

Hockey
Football
Squash
Cycling
100, 200, 400 and 1600 meters Race

Nowadays, there are no grounds.. they have been filled with garbage. Children are not interested in playing outside.. When I visit Pakistan, I see no cricket or football on the streets. My own school stopped giving enough time to conduct tournament long time back. Children of today are weaker, they get sick quite easily.

Children mostly spend their time on video games and we are seeing results. On pathan tea cafes, you will see snooker and carem boards.. If there's is a carem tournament, Pakistan will beat all other nations surely. Our one talented video gamer has won many international Takken championships.

So instead of just blaming selectors (they are also a$$holes), we should blame our politicians for taking away playgrounds, parents, school managements, and children.. we are all responsible for the mess we are in today because we have created it over the past 20 years..

No we still care about cricket. It is Pakistan's premier sport. It just the mercurial nature of our cricket. Our cricket lacks system however the manpower recieved is so talented that they look very good for a short bit but due to proper systems to be moulded through they fail in the long run.

There’s always talent the but the talent needs to be polished and need to be guided properly so they’re ready for international level cricket. PCB Academies play a big role in selecting the talented players and work with him, train and guide them, and give them the opportunity and prepare them for the domestic and international cricket. unfortunately in Pakistan the academies setup is so weak and the coaches and the trainer picked for those academies are NOT working the way they should.
Also, even if the talented player is selected for domestic cricket, they never get selected for National team due to nepotism, favoritism and regional bias.

My hat’s off you Sir. You must have been a very athletic young man. I only played cricket & squash but was only mediocre at best in both the games; hence I took up swimming to keep myself fit.

Coming back to the real topic. Anyone who has played any sport at any level knows that winning & losing is part of the game. My problem is not with losing, it is how badly we lost!

There was a time when we also had decent athletes such as the sprinter Abdul Khaliq who won 36 international gold medals, 15 international silver medals, and 12 International bronze medals for Pakistan. He competed in the 100m, 200m, and 4 x 100 meters relay. Then there was 110-meter hurdler Ghulam Raziq a world-class athlete and won 2 golds and a silver in three Asiads (1958, 62 & 66). He also won gold at the Commonwealth Games (1962). We were also world Champions in hockey & squash for many years and our wrestlers were also among the world's best. Now only game left where Pakistanis are any good is Cricket.

With due respect, how come the team that won ICC ODI Champions trophy in London in 2017 and ranked as No.1 in the T20; stooped so low as to lose three 20/20 matches to a second-string Sri Lank cricket team? The only thing that happened was a complete change in Cricket management?

Pakistan has lost nearly every test series in Australia but never this badly, a whitewash with two consecutive inning’s defeats! Admittedly you cannot train a donkey to win the Derby race. But when after the change of the jockey & the trainer, a winning horse comes last, who should be blamed except the jockey and the trainer?

Yes, Pakistan has limited talent, but the recent results show that even what little talent that is available, has performed worse than expected due to the gross incompetence of the management. Regret to say, you can't brush it off under the carpet by blaming it on the lack of talent; the Buck must stop at the coach & the selectors.

Actually to be honest, I wasnt expecting anything from our bowlers in the first place. Yasir has been proven garbage outside of Asia and Abbas was not fit enough. You cant win in AUS with rookies.

I know our batting has been crap no matter where they play but my frustration goes to next level whenever I see faces of Azhar and Asad, because they are not even 40% of what they were groomed for - to fill Younis and Misbah's gap. Yes, even Younis and Misbah werent great in AUS but these have been nothing but embarrassment regardless of condition and country.

Azhar is already 34 (unofficially might be more) and papa is 33 (again, unofficially might be more). Latter can play for another 2/3 years but Azhar should hang his boots now, because there is noway he can go back to his peak. He has already passed his peak and those who are hoping that its a temporary dip in his form are wrong. He has passed his best before date, because after your mid 30's in professional sports, decline in performance is steep and there is no coming back from it. Thats why usually players retire from Intl cricket when they reach their mid 30's. I said it before and will reiterate is again. Misbah set a very, very bad example by playing till so late and introduced this notion that "you can play as long as you are fit". This is utter hogwash, because simply you cant. And its because of Misbah's notion, goons like Kamran Akmal and Hackfeez are not ready to retire from cricket and yet want to make a return to national team. Pakistan cricket wouldnt improve until and unless we put age limitation on it.
