We Don’t Seek Benevolence, But Don't Malign us Either – Part II - Saf Shikan-1.

Seriously, consult your physician. You might find this information useful, if only for emergency use, at very high altitudes:

QUOTE: "This is why Viagra and Revatio, a drug prescribed to combat pulmonary hypertension (high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs), are in fact just two names for the same substance.

Even healthy people can start to experience some of the fatigue associated with pulmonary hypertension when they travel to very high elevations, where available oxygen wanes and blood vessels in the lungs constrict. Multiple studies have shown that sildenafil can help to reverse this effect, improving oxygen delivery to muscles and offsetting the usual drop in endurance associated with high altitude.

So a Viagra or two would likely help Everest climbers stay strong during the trek." /QUOTE.
for high altitude pul. edema sildenafil is used,,,,this was a question in pg exams last year n i marked furesemide:tsk:

Of course it is a good question. I am not joking about this here.

Sildenafil might just make the difference between life and death on Siachen for someone.

well, how was i supposed to know,,,all pul. edema patients r administered loop diuretics in hospital,,,then the underlying heart condition is managed..

That edema is due to volume overload, not hypoxia. Different mechanism, different treatment.

@Xeric - I'm opening a 'khokha' selling viagra next to the basecamp of Saf Shikan, where the soldiers depart for the post. Just make sure you take pictures of the frozen semen, it will help cheng greatly in his high altitude mating advice research.

I'm also planning a seman bank where the specimens from multiple troopers would be stored and warehoused in a led reinforce compartment buried under the frozen glacier as a strategic deposit to start the post apocalyptic human race again.

@Armstrong Don't listen to Cheng, he wants you to freeze and die on the glacier with a full erection so you end up becoming one of those roman God statues, so he can laugh at you.

Cheers ;)

i know that now.....
sir, just a query,,,when there is ischemia,,most tissues of body produce local metabolites like lactic a,adenosine, lead to increase pCO2 n decrease pO2,,which in turn causes local vasodilation,,,,,,what is so different in lung tissue that it does exactly opposite...
i just know that vasoconstriction in lungs during hypoxia is to maintain V/Q ratio

Now before we both get thread banned from here, can we return to the topic and lavishly praise the valiant jawans performing these superhuman feats to protect the nation, and admire the intelligence and bravery of the officers that lead them in the field? :D

(Read up on prostaglandins and how their effects are mediated differently in the pulmonary vasculature compared to other vascular beds.)

A hundred years from now, a standing @Armstrong with his dick pointing the viewer, cased in a glass box at some museum with the caption; Where the f*** is VChung?!

Ahhh.... i already washed my hands twice!

It's an easy task to sit behind computer and take jibe at others who are guarding the frontier in harsh conditions while you live in comfort and criticize others for making a difference that you can't make.

The purpose of thread is to make us aware hardships soldiers go through in Siachen Glacier or the other side of story of what it is like to be in Siachen which is the purpose of thread

Praising the valour of these soldiers is the personal choice of someone posting here

But criticizing and taking jibes under the guise of praising is just plain old hypocrisy. Not only your intentions are crystal clear but what makes your posts unbearable to read is you repeating same thing over and over like a broken record. What do you get by being irritable? So when someone thread bans you, you can show to the world how much an innocent victim you were? :D

Of course Siachen is the highest persistent battlefield the world has ever known. Such high altitudes are known to cause extreme physical hardship, so it is only to be expected that fighting there would be even harder.

Just got the reply from a Signals officer regarding the weight of the cable, i had a fair idea of its weight but had to be sure as it was going online, so just to explain the following:

"the men would carry a bundle of cable weighing around 25 kilograms for a couple of kilometers"

400 yards of this cable weighs 50 kilograms. Readers can now calculate the number of trips these men would be making to lay the cable
