I was initially speechless as I first saw masses gathering outside the White House to celebrate the death of Bin Laden, but later it dawned on me that my speechlessness had its roots in something deeper namely a sense of embarrassment! I was embarassed at the naivety of those who went at those early hours of the morning to wave the flag. It reminded me of a Persian expression that attempts to show the power of suggestion. It goes like this: If you keep repeating to yourself, say the fruit name 'dates' over and over again, you'll eventually begin to dream of the sweet fruit :-) The situation is not that much different here. The man was called Enemy Number One for over 10 years, the one and only person responsible for all the miseries the nation faced and the very reason the country has been at war since the early 1990s. But for all we know, Bin Laden never existed, but the Saudi billionaire qualified and perhaps agreed to be the symbol that justified the war on terror for so many years. The Enemy Number One, for all we know, may have boarded the Airforce One happily on his way to retirement. It is also ironic that when Saddam Hussein was captured, he was paraded in front of the world, but such a trophy, the world's Enemy Number One who obviously lived in a military compound in friendly country was simply liquidated upon his capture, his DNA analysis -- that normally takes a few days -- was immediately known, and his body convenienlty and forever disposed of!!! Now seriously folks, who are we kidding? I dare say we are only kidding those who euphorically rushed to the streets to celebrate the death of a symbol whose name we had repeated over the years. Wake up people or better yet, just go back to bed! Now, playing the devils advocate, or simply for the sake of the argument, even if Bin Laden by some remote chance ever did exist, the man and his organization had already worn itself out to irrelevance as we have seen in the recent movements in the Arab world. In fact, Al Qaida had become irrelevant for many years and therefore there was no need for the symbol of terror anymore.
The big question now is what and who is to replace the face of the enemy? Otherwise, we'll either have to close down all the military bases in the war-torn countries and go home, or to conjure up a new sweet fruit to dream of!

Everything is possible. However how that entitles some people to their own facts is a mystery.

So in all honesty, its just a guy telling everyone what he "thinks", as opposed to what he "knows".

Ofcourse, people need to "wake up" because this guy just decided to have an epiphany.
