Chinese dramas are still so popular in Vietnam, albeit challenged by Korean dramas in recent years
Although Korean bands are sweeping the world, China's TFboys has grasped the Vietnamese younger generation

Due to the war(s) decades ago which they think their commie big brother betray them?

Well you need to understand what kind of people watch TV drama and Asian pop.

Audience of Korean/Chinese drama = house wives that stay at home (meaning not very educated people, other wise they would also go to work).

Audience of Kpop (or any asian pop) = teenage girls.

Both of these audiences are not educated or political. So you cannot compare the behaivour and attitude of these house wives/teenage girls with the attitude of the politicians/army/educated people.

no, they are indeed educated, some of them even learn Chinese/Korean/English so as to enjoy the entertainment faster than the Vietsub comes out.

When I said uneducated, I don’t mean they have zero education. Nearly everyone have a level of high school eduction.

By education, I mean the educated like those who are informed and have opinions about world politics, etc. Housewives and teenage girls mostly are not. Trust me, most average Viet do not have time to watch TV dramas nor are they intense pop fan, regardless where that drama comes from. Of course there are exceptions, but what I said is generally the case.

Who the hell wants to watch chinese modern drama? if any, some watch ancient chinese films, especially the Ming period. we hate the Manchu more than Ccp commie today.

and who wtf are tfboys?

How does that refute what I said? Yes Im sure there are big Viet audiences for Chinese drama, Kpop or even tboy, etc. But they don’t represent the majority of Vietnamese. Like I said, these audiences are mainly housewives, teenage girls, etc. Most men and women who work don’t have time for TV drama.

Housewives (remember VN is not like Japan where most married women quit work) and teenage girls are not the majority of the Viet population. So you should not be surprised if the majority of Viets are anti-China while a minority (housewives, teenage girls) love Chinese drama, Kpop, etc.

Remember that latest Pew survey that shows only 19% of Viet surveyed has positive views of China. I guess you could say those 19% represent housewives and teen girls.

(SK high rating is from good VN-SK political ties, their big investments and donation of ships, etc to VN)
