Religious violence is an unfortunate fact of my nation. We are learning very fast. Today 85% educated youth under the age of 35 years believes in unity.

As long as the Indian constitution guarantees freedom of to practice and preach Islam, there is no contradiction in being a good Muslim and a good Indian. There is no either/or. The Indian constitution allows a person to be a good Muslim and Indian at the same time.

Ofcourse any average Muslim or even an Indian would have humanitarian concern for the well being of other people around the world. One of the reasons why India regularly provides aids tot he Palestinians or in the recent disaster in Haiti for example.

As regards to "Dr" Tagodia, he has said worst things before but seems to be losing his handle. He might want to think before he speaks as he is violating the Indian consitution and basically speaking as a traitor to the Indian constitution. He might want to be careful to avoid the backlash these types of people are generating among the Indian masses and avoid the fate of Muthalik for example.

This is whats most ridiculous about you guys, the way you blatantly brush of your shoulders when someone questions the brutalities that muslims have faced in India. Here are some of the responses that i just got today from your fellow Indians regarding this guys statement

India is a free country and everybody has a right to say what they want, that includes political leaders who want to go upto a gathering full of students and telling them to starve muslims to death

That are probably a little old figures. At present UAE is the biggest trading partner of India ahead of China who was the biggest partner in 2008. Indo-Arab trade accounts to about 100+B $ set to double by 2014. Moreover, 90+% of Indians energy imports come from "muslim" majority countries.

People like Tagodia should be considered as important for GoI policy as the TTP policy is for GoP. Its not for no reason that these groups are called "Hindu Taliban" by the Indian press.

Of course, the justice was delayed, but the trials are still ongoing and punishment is being delivered. Although the healing is still not complete. I follow the Gujarat trials quite closely, and although I wish that the trials were speeded up, its much better than for example the judicial inquiries in the '84 sikh riots or the 92-93 Mumbai riots.

Still the political punishment was probably the biggest punishment that got delivered.
