Used F16's - EDA 50 ~ 100 Available

Some Pakistanis capability for self-delusion is incredible. You want Pakistan to be free from US influence yet continue to pursue F-16s and hope for the best, knowing full well that US will give with one hand and hit you with another.

Then the same people complain about US duplicity. Then they quickly forget it and resume wanting F-16s. Repat

I think PAF has moved on mentally from the F-16s and are pursuing other options.
Going by that logic, does it mean that all F-16 operators are living under US influence....
Wonder why India is more and more inclined to go for the American military hardware.

So Jordanian vipers not coming to PAF?
It may take some time.

Hi,

If the Paf goes for these aircraft---then it is not sending out some serious message to the U S---.

Secondly---Obama and prior---there would be no electronic sanctions on the F16 during a war with India---.

But with Trump in power---it WILL happen---. He wil authorize electronic sanctions---where these aircraft may not operate under full authority of the operator---.

Paf should have taken the J10 B / C route years ago and would have been well settled into the new aircraft---.

Going by that logic, does it mean that all F-16 operators are living under US influence.....

You can make that argument. The interests of most F-16s operators are aligned with US, but can the same be said of Pakistan? No, there is increasing divergence of interests between Pakistan US, from Afghanistan to China, that makes Pakistan acquiring more F-16s a troublesome idea.

Wonder why India is more and more inclined to go for the American military hardware.

The opposite is true for India, who has a convergence of interests with US and makes the acquisition of US military hardware possible.

Well PAF could go for these EDA birds, 50~100. New ones were available, as long as PAF paid for them. These upgraded birds could be a game changer.

Poland shoots down used F-16A/B acquisition

Poland has ruled out purchasing second-hand Lockheed Martin F-16A/Bs to expand its air force, citing excessive modernisation costs.

“We are not going to buy used older versions of the F-16,” deputy minister for national defence Bartosz Kownacki told a parliamentary committee examining the modernisation of the country’s armed forces on 22 March.

In January, Kownacki had indicated that Warsaw was considering the acquisition of 50-100 used F-16s, or new F-35s.

A week later, the defence minister Antoni Macierewicz added that the ministry was not ruling out the purchase of more F-16s “depending on the conditions that would eventually be agreed with the US side”.

Kownacki says that Poland continues to analyse various options as it looks to expand its air force fleet, as well as cope with the retirement of Soviet-built types such as the RAC MiG-29 and Sukhoi Su-22. However, he says that studies preclude the acquisition of used F-16s. “The analysis of purchasing of F-16A/B aircraft were carried out by the Ministry of National Defence, the general staff of the Polish armed forces and the armament inspectorate, and after that, it was clear that this was not the right direction," he says.

“The cost of upgrading second-hand aircraft would be high, and their capabilities would be small.”

Deputy commander in chief of the Polish armed forces Gen Jan Sliwka stresses that Poland had been “surprised” by how much Romania paid to upgrade a batch of F-16A/Bs acquired from Portugal.

“It cost more than the price of the same number of new aircraft,” he says.

"We could say that the cost of acquiring used a F-16 would be bigger than buying a new one and that is why we will not go in that direction," says Kownacki.

Warsaw has yet to decide whether to acquire new F-16s or the F-35, although Kownacki notes the high cost of the latter.

I have reports that Pakistan is looking to get F-16 from some other friend no idea about these ones but yes if we can get them for reasonable price and get the upgraded from Turkey than why not at least I think would be better option than UAE Mirages.

What UAE Mirages?
UAE Mirages which were being discussed as a option on this forum that I was referring to. F-16 upgraded to close to BLOCK 52 standard is always a great choice.

1) The UAE didn't say we were decommissioning them, The PAF didn't say they were buying them.

That thread was nothing but wishful thinking. Ignore it ever happened.

2) F16's upgraded close to Blk52's is good, but with the new APG-83 can actually exceed Blk52. Nonetheless strings do come with it.

Meh, I sincerely hope Pakistan turns to China instead, given that the 'Russian connection' may not have matured yet, though it is evidently growing from strength to strength-albeit at a leisurely pace. Keeping in view, Western partners can be incredibly unreliable and acutely whimsical.. An upgraded J-10 anyone? From a reliable and time-tested partner. Which in turn, will perfectly compliment the JF-17's, F-16's, and the J-31's (plus or minus another possible 5th gen at some point) in future. All functioning/performing in perfect sync and harmony via data link. PAF would have it's 'poisonous canines' back and what a carnivore she'd be.

First we need to see what becomes of the Jordanian F-16s which are pending approval from Washington.
if zardari comes next year into power then expect brand new f16 deal immediately (remember the active lobby of zardari for f16 in usa with john mccain) else later expect the deal...i read somewhere that after USA delivers a number of f16iq to iraq , by 2019 paf will also get additional f16...also forget jordanian vipers... @Windjammer sir how probable do u see paf getting f16 ozgur upgrade by 2022? @Khafee

Bro, Zardari was just using F-16 issue to make himself look good to Military after his "Bricks" Statement.

That is the crux of the matter. What can PAF afford and how does it wish to spend its resources?

I believe PAF can acquire the 10 F-16 Block 52s if they still want them and pay full price for them. Trump is keen on creating manufacturing jobs in US, so he may not object too strongly. May even tweet about it!

USA never refused the sale of more F-16s the last time either. As you say, if Pakistan can pay for them on its own, the deal can still be made.

There is a deal on the table since 2014 FOR PAF to buy 18 brand new F16/52 .

The only issue has been the lack of funds OR unwillingness to spend the $1.3 billion to buy them.

USA will not say no to cash.

USA will not give GRANT AID for them either = AND that is the real issue

Hi,

That deal of 18 expired a while ago---. Plus the U S govt was charging an exorbitant amount for an poorly equiped BLK52---it was minus the aesa and no off bore sight missile capability---.

Paf needs to look at the chinese J series 4th and 4.5 gen aircraft.
