Senator Saleem Saifullah says Pakistan will retort hard in case of a US attack.

Senate’s Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Chairman Senator Saleem Saifullah has said that the US will forget Vietnam if it tried to venture out in Waziristan.

Talking to the media in Islamabad, Saifullah said that Pakistan had been siding with the US since its creation and the ISI had lost 400 of its men in war against terror while there was a long list of the sacrifices made by the Pakistan Army but the US always betrayed Pakistan.

He said that the government was evacuating schools and hospitals in the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas, indicating that something was about to happen.

He said, however, the US would have to suffer the biggest loss if he attacked Pakistan.

Nations who forget their history are bound to repeat it, so the USA will never forget Vietnam. Saddam promised the "Mother of all Battles" in the case US attacked, did he not? Perhaps Senator Saifullah should remember that.

You seem to be underestimating Pakistan and their military. A conflict with Pakistan would never be a milk run for the US. In the 80's while the US sat at the sidelines, Pakistan was gaining first hand experience, in conventional and unconventional warfare. Pakistan played the game of psy-ops and espionage as well. This will not be Vietnam, nor will it be Iraq. This is Pakistan, and even their military is well versed in guerilla warfare and tactics. Helping to bring down a world super-power has only demonstrated that Pakistan is by all means a very dangerous adversary to anyone.

No, my assessments are totally realistic. What strengths you have described for the PA are precisely what will not be needed, since the US strategy will avoid those scenarios, if and when needed.

How???????

Pretty strong words..the worst US nightmare is an action gone wrong and rouge tribal elements armed with a "dirty bomb".

who are you siding with by the way???

Looking at its flag.......... I think he is an american .

On topic.......... What if US just bomb the area ???? No troops on ground...... No repeat of vietnam.
As a matter of fact...... US is already doing it by drones

Pakistan military is the 2nd military of the world who got pitted against the soviets the first 1 was NAZI germany who got devastated by the soviets USSR while Pakistan devastated USSR in Afghanistan. And we are not alone We got China Turkey IRAN with us incase of any misadventure by the US

if ever the states does decide to attack it will be with their air force . they will destroy the Pakistani military infrastructure and they wont need boots on the ground for that .

its time we attack them

and i wish you do that , will help us a lot

on topic - american's are not fools , they learn from their mistakes , their military planing and spending is 100 times better than pakistan , and a lot of things have changed since vietnam war , they have better weapons , they would just bomb pakistani territory and i don't think any of paf aircraft will even be able to enter pacific ocean.

forget about it.No body fights for other like you did and now doing.;)

The US of A cannot afford to open another front in Pakistan. They neither have the capability nor the funding for such an operation. Their economy is down in the dumps and their troops are a tired lot! The terrain too will not allow them to deploy any heavy supporting equipment. And most important of all, protracted logistics support to their formations in Pakistan from Afghanistan will be impossible and their lines of communications will be a bummer!

So, forget it. The US of A will NEVER even think of attacking Pakistan unless their strategists and politicos have lost their marbles!
