US Tries to Stifle Chinese Space Advances

Look at china begging for help.

We will not help you.

China is 50 years behind in a manned mission and 20 with 5 gen jets.

With a 3 times smaller economy.

Too bad your government doesn't share your opinion.

They are running to China for more loans. :D

And increasing the deficit/debt to us every day. Thanks in advance! :P

F*ck those drunken ruskies, they don't deserve to take all the credit from our hard work.

Just don't cry when some "white trash" or "smelly Indian" or "rapist Russian", or "drunk ruski" says something like yellow chink. By the way i like how one of your homeboys thanked you for that wonderaful post. Back to topic:

The following is written by a drunken Rruskie but that, nevertheless makes it any less true, infact western sources confirm much of the same.

Chinese Space Program: Perspective From Moscow

The April 25, 1996 inter-governmental agreement provides the legal grounds for selling Russian space technologies to China. Since the agreement was classified, executives of Russian enterprises did not conceal their cooperation with the PRC but declined to offer any comments. Nevertheless, it has been reported that Beijing bought a Soyuz-TM descent-module mock-up, as well as automatic link-up and docking systems, from Russia's Energia Rocket and Space Corporation. In 1996-1997, Chinese astronauts-instructors trained at the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center.

I will give credit where its due. Uniqueness comes from evolving a design independently. That isnt the case here. There was no learning curve, no stepwise improvements. So up till now, I dont find anything unique in China's inventory. But I am sure, given the achievements in the last decade, we will see improvements in the spacecraft, launch vehicles, and other technologies which would be unique to China.

First you start with copying, then design evolution, and now total uniqueness. My my can't ever give credit where it is due can you? I bet you would say we copied something even if it didn't exist before wouldn't you?

True. It was the Russians who originally thought of that. There.
In contrast, American Apollo program's spacecraft, evolved from Mercury and Gemini programs, had the Command Module (Orbital and Re-entry rolled into one) and the Service module - apart from a lunar landing module.

Still space ships. Just a simplified design.

The difference in American and Russian designs. Thats uniqueness.

So if we came out with one with a fourth module it would be unique?

^^ Tanlixiang, Refer to ptldM3's post above yours.

Lol, are you a Russian Ninja?

Always suddenly appear from nowhere, then disappear? :cheesy:

^^ Refer to ptldM3's post.

I did and the same article admits this

To be fair, aerodynamic laws can explain the similar layout of Russian and Chinese spacecraft. Russia's Buran (Snow Storm) reusable space vehicle also differs little from its U.S. Shuttle equivalent.

Buran was a cheap ripoff of the space shuttle, everyone known that.

Aerodynamic laws in Space?

About Buran, yes. But you also need to realize that the Russians had a reuseable space vehicle program with many prototyes built. It was a culmination of those efforts. One cannot say the same about Shenzhou.

They are practically mirror images of each other.

They need to be launched and eventually recovered.

As for prototypes Chinese government was even less open back then. We know there was at least two different prototypes for the J XX competition too but we will likely never see the one that was rejected. But go ahead keep your double standards.

The Space Shuttle and the Buran are not standalone vehicles. They are part of a larger system consisting of boosters, fuel tanks etc. A sharp contrast to US's Space Shuttle, Buran had its main launch engines on the Energia Rocket (equivalent - the huge fuel tank in the Space Shuttle), which it did NOT take into space. So that means a lot of differences between the two programs.
Also, Russians had their own reusable vehicle program culminating in the Buran.

So Chinese designs are not copies but just happens to resemble its competitors but the above pictures suggests that the Buran is a copy? Interesting how the same rules do not apply to China.

As I already found the Shenzhou does not resemble the Soyuz

They do not even share external similarities.
