Yes, there are already rumblings in NY Times that America is asking China to play bigger role in Afghanistan. That can't be too bad for Pakistan.

Pakistan can't be blamed alone for distrust, US is responsible too. From threatening us to join Afghan war otherwise..... to constant propaganda against our nukes make Pakistanis very suspicious of US motives.....Let alone your way of bringing democracy without being asked. ME is mess now. There is a general disliking about US in whole world not only in Pakistan. We hate American policies regarding our interests and continent/world. It doesn't mean we hate Americans, who are probably the most open minded and friendly people in the world. But thanks to Trump, this is also going to change

Unlike China, US never took any deep interest in investing in our economy/infrastructure. US only relies on military establishment while China, despite so much differences in almost everything, able to win the hearts and minds of people of Pakistan. US needs to make her presence in infrastructure of Pakistan so that people can remember something given by US...... obviously other than F-16

I was categorizing the views of Trump supporters and a good deal of the American people. They also tend to feel that way about China, India, Iran, any Arab country, etc. It's just how they feel, like it or not. Like I said, Trump and the phenomenon of his popularity, has it's best counterpart in the anti-immigrant populist movements of Europe, like France's National Front and Jean-Marie le Pen. Trump is kinda' of a cross between le Pen and India's PM Modi.

Of course we would. If Mr. Trump is elected for example, he has already repeatedly said that Pakistan will be put from America's allied list to being considered an enemy state. Americans have become absolutely sick and tired of trying to be allies or conduct arms sales with countries that we supposedly share strategic interest with...who hate us. Their attitude, and Trump's, is, "They don't like us? F**ck 'em! Let them go to the dogs!" There is no shortage of Pakistanis on this board for certain, who are reflective of the attitudes that cause the American people to feel that way.

Mr. Trump will come to his senses if he ever makes it to the white house. Things are not as simple or black and white in international arena as simpletons like Trump make it out to be. However if shit hits the fan, it would be a perfect opportunity for us to increase our strategic reach just in case.

Ha, yah I know it must seem that way in our presidential races but the majority of Republicans are not that way. I know my congressman pretty well, and he is a more typical Republican who is just a good guy, religious, family man, and ophthalmologist. My state's governor is the same kinda' good guy, and used to be a real cowboy on a ranch. State legislators, etc. are usually pretty average small businessmen, retired soldiers, lawyers. Not too many nut-cases.

Mr. Trump will come to his senses if he ever makes it to the white house. Things are not as simple or black and white in international arena as simpletons like Trump make it out to be.

True to a large extent but I will say, Trump is not the kinda' guy that is going to cave on what he said he will do. He doesn't need to be president. All the perks; the White House, limousine, Air Force One, etc. will frankly be a big step down for him and the salary of the president is probably what he spends on one vacation, yachting in the Mediterranean. He just doesn’t care. When you're as rich and powerful as he is, you just don't have to.

So, what would America's 'wish list' to Pakistan be? A couple could be....

1. Do more against the Haqqanis. (I've heard this a zillion times before!)
2. Put a lid on the nuke arsenal.
3. Do more for the safety of nukes so they don't fall into Jihadi hands.
4. Keep the gates at Torkham and Chaman open forever for the logistics support for their troops in Afghanistan. (As we know there will be a permanent American presence in Afghanistan till the cows come home).
5. Provide more protection for the convoys carrying stores for American troops while moving within Pakistan territory.

I can't think of anything else!

The US already stopped targeting Haqqanis.

Republicans are good for Pakistan in general. They have a better sense of foreign policy matters. We are not talking Trump here. He may bring harm to US in the international politics. We may see some allies pulling out from US if he remains same kind of person.

On the other hand, Hillary Clinton isn't that bad a choice either. She understands how Capital Hill works. Time for first Woman POTUS?

As pointed out above, Republicans tend to have a favorable view of Pakistan. Mr. Trump might be an exception but I don't think he is as dangerous and reckless as he may sound. If he was as reckless and dangerous, he wouldn't have ever become a billionaire in the first place.

You don't become a billionaire without being diplomatic and making sound decisions. Never.

However, Mr. Trump is likely to adopt an aggressive foreign policy unlike President Obama, should be become the President. Mr. Trump might have what it takes to get things done that President Obama never could.
