Pakistan was given the option to keep the helicopters and buy them. In fact, the Americans were pressuring the Pakistanis to keep the helis . The helis were returned because Pakistan didn’t want to buy.

This was part of the original terms of agreement which also came with Cessna planes. Pakistan kept the Cessna and returned the helis. It is not a serious matter. Pakistan will get replacement helicopters from the US per deal.

Clearly evident how people in Army back in 2002 compromised Pakistan's National Security... making deals like getting helis @ rent which later return to the same country...

and if today Army knw that these helicoputers will back why not they've purchased new one incase of unavailability, they will use the other one.... clearly lack of planing

Pakistan returned the helis despite being asked to buy them because they might have not seen much utility in them. They kept the Cessna planes that came with these helis. The Pakistani embassy in Washington DC has already been asked to start negotiations for replacements of the helis with America. Most experts agree replacement helis will be released.

People have misinterpreted the whole issue. Per news reports, decision to return the helicopters was made months ago before Trump’s August speech.
