[Edit]: a correction must be made. In this case, it seems that Pakistan was the one who decided to return the helicopters, even after the US asked Pakistan to just buy them.
What in the hell was Pakistan thinking, returning them? From what I can tell, the Americans were practically paying for most of the helicopters themselves, and yet Pakistan STILL refused to buy them. Some one needs to be fired.
On the off chance a US gov official is reading this, which I doubt, I apologize and stand corrected. The fault lies with Pakistan, not the US.
However, the rest of my point about Pakistan developing a domestic industry still holds true. If it can produce helis domestically, than it won't ever have to worry about foreigner suppliers ever again.

And then they complain that Pakistan isn't doing enough. How is Pakistan suppose to keep an eye on the border, if you keep crippling their capability to do so?
Still, it gives a good opportunity for Pakistan to further reduce reliance on an unreliable, and increasingly hostile, partner.
I wouldn't be surprised of the US decided to take back the Maxxpros as well, and then complain that Pakistan is taking too long to launch military operations.
This is why a domestic solution is needed. Pakistan should honestly start thinking about JVs with friendly nations, so as to build a domestic industry. The T-129 supply partnership is a good start, but Pakistan needs a proper helicopter industry.
