US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo meets PM Imran in Islamabad

. . . . .
Pakistan should lay its concerns, points and everything, its national interests and see if common ground can be achieved between US-Pak relations.

Like i said, pompeo and co. were playing to the gallery of sounding tough. They'll again mouth off when they land in delhi. They've got an appearance and "credibility" to keep up. Pakistan, as usual, reacted and lost track of what it needed to convey about its national interests and the need for the u.s to play a constructive role in the region.
I think if pak politicians were smart they would say it at a press conference that we fully expect you to bad mouth us in delhi whilst praising us here

The only way forward is based upon mutual and national interests. Pakistan cannot be anymore on receiving end of US demands. Pompeo & Co. is already off the opinion to give more space & Authority to India in the region which is not viable in long run. Current situation is like Taliban > US > China, Russia & Pakistan in the end.

The way forward is very simple really, with both sides entitled to pursue their respective national interests equally. USA is clearly saying what it needs from Pakistan, and what it is willing to do for Pakistan. It is up to Pakistan to decide what it can acceptably do in return for what it needs from USA. Both sides can then come to an agreement on whatever common grounds that can be found. If none can be found, then national interests can always be pursued by other mechanisms by both sides. Negotiations 101, nothing special.

Whoever plays the game better gets the bigger rewards. Right now, Pakistan now has its dream team in power, and USA has its worst. Advantage Pakistan (huge!).

I hope the proceedings have been recorded using hifi audio and 4K video equipment.
Protocol has sent a write a message...rest of arrogance will be treated by the chai-papa at PM's office.
Regardless of who met who... I'm pretty relaxed and that our govt won't compromise on its national interests and dignity.

In AZ or NS era none less than Foreign Secretary would have greeted the swines, welcome to Naya Pakistan :pakistan:
Well, it is justified on multiple reasons. First of all, he is not coming on at any higher note of the relations. But more importantly, we mean business and no more "do more's" rather things will be in reverse.

But still, US team follows the same national interest lines as use to in past. Can't speak of their domestic politics but Foreign Policies are well designed & supported by Pentagon at large. However, after a while, Pakistan is having Military & Civilian Leadership on same page and works for national interest. One cannot undermine this development to which, US team has been taking advantage and enjoyed superiority. In my opinion, Pakistan is finally pacing up and adopts national interest policy in manners of mutual understanding with other nations through independent diplomacy. Yes, we have a better team as compare to past.

Let us give Pakistan's new - and better - team time to settle in and work towards pursuing Pakistan's national interests as best as it can while USA tries to do the same too. We will soon know what was achieved - if anything - from this present round of meetings. More likely, it will take several more rounds to understand what is the best way forward for both sides.
