Like i said, pompeo and co. were playing to the gallery of sounding tough. They'll again mouth off when they land in delhi. They've got an appearance and "credibility" to keep up. Pakistan, as usual, reacted and lost track of what it needed to convey about its national interests and the need for the u.s to play a constructive role in the region.

It is not in the best interest of US that Pakistan would become the internally stable growing economy and on the path to progress. Lesson learned from past history of transactional relationship makes enough self-evident, When they need Pakistan, they throw money with conditions, when they don't need us then they put on us the sanctions. They want to see us remain weak and dependent so that it can be forced into compliance with the transactional relationship. Past Pakistani rulers made sure Pakistan remains weak and indebted in compliance with US wishes. Ik and Pak Army has rocked the US boat, he will defend national interest at all cost.

Pakistan will be more indebted to China though, having to pay $4b a year from 2024?
