US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo meets PM Imran in Islamabad

I only want betterment of Pakistan but I am realistic in my thought process. I do not harbor any illusions of Pakistan being untouchable or such.

You are not paying attention to disclosures of SMQ. I have viewed them all, and I see in them ample hints. You are misreading certain things.

Trump administration is giving PTI-led government a chance in having a working relationship with it, therefore, this meeting was set on a positive note.

Pompeo have clearly conveyed to Pakistani top brass that "he said; she said politics" will not work. Both countries will have to find common grounds on issues to move forward. There is no such thing as Pakistan dictating its course. There was no posturing in this meeting, from our end. It was not feasible.

Be humble.

Exactly, This is where Pakistan will have get the rebels to negotiate a deal in keeping in mind the Pakistanis can't be undermined. It also depends on if the Kabul government will accept power-sharing and re-writing the constitution. Support by the Afghan Public may also sway both sides to negotiate an amicable and realistic deal.

. .
since 2001 we have 3300 visits of US high rank officials with same talk
Its much easy to daily fax same demands to Pak foreign office. Instead making thousands of trip on same issue.

Hey guys I listened to this talk by SMQ but I failed to pick some points because of my weak Urdu. Can anybody with good command of Urdu give bullet points please. Much appreciated. In particular did he say Pompeo told him US will not be in Afghanistan for long? And that the meeting was very constructive and ended on a good note with both sides seeing considerable convergence?

He is saying ...all is good. We will re negotiate old terms and condition ....

.
the usual u.s blabbering. However what a poster has said about SMQ is correct. He's worthless and represents no new thinking in how to deal with others and uphold Pak's interests.

.
you are definitely mixing up Pakistan with the current "Crazytown" US government run by, as per a Trump's own staff members in Whitehouse, a "fucking idiot", a "fucking moron", a "fucking liar"

Yes. It means the U.S. won't trust Pakistan unless both the civilian and military leaderships are sitting at the same table; the old pattern of the two leaderships negotiating separately (and pointing fingers at each other as an excuse to do nothing) is unacceptable.

We are well and truly in a new chapter of our History with respect to Pak-American relations.

The relations will be purely based on reciprocacy and mutual respect.

It is not rocket science that America needs Pakistan more than Pakistan needs America. The Americans have been told to do more in Afghanistan as stability in the region depends on a peaceful Afghanistan.

Pakistan is set to thrive in this multipolar world.

#StartingAnew

To be honest Americans would have enjoyed this meeting. Its been after a long time they got to talk to someone who is clear, affluent and has moral legal authority to welcome profound solutions and develop a mutual beneficial working relation. Honest, straightforward and someone who wouldn't have asked them to help him consolidate his power and assert his authority over the state institutions. I am of the view if we play our cards right, we may be able to benefit not only from US but others as well.

This new PM ..... should have become a big concern for the war and drug lords in Kabul and crying whining nation in the East (of Pakistan).

And for the first time I am worried about Pakistani Premier's safety and security, presence of an Afghan in this meeting should have been a big no.

Everything else like Secretary, Foreign Minister etc is in initial caps but Prime Minister is in small caps ........ may be I am reading too much into it, but it wouldn't have hurt typing Prime Minister in initial caps like others.

. .

Lol Bring in Trump as well, he will receive the same treatment even if all of his pockets are filled with cash......we dont have a slave govt finally :)

Another thing, at least PM was speaking directly and didn't have to write things on a piece of paper ;)

The below is attributable to Spokesperson Heather Nauert:‎

Secretary Michael R. Pompeo met today in Islamabad, Pakistan with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, and other civilian and military leadership. He was accompanied by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, Jr. Congratulating the Prime Minister on the formation of his government, the Secretary welcomed the further strengthening of civilian institutions. Secretary Pompeo also highlighted the importance of the U.S.-Pakistan relationship, and underscored areas of shared interest, such as the expansion of two-way trade and commercial ties.

While meeting with Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Secretary Pompeo discussed the potential for the United States and Pakistan to work together to advance joint priorities, including regional peace and stability. He also emphasized the value of strong people-to-people ties between our nations, built on decades of cultural and educational exchanges.

During his meeting with Pakistani Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Bajwa, Secretary Pompeo welcomed the smooth transition of power to a new civilian government, stressing the importance of strong democratic institutions. Secretary Pompeo also expressed hope for deeper counter terrorism cooperation between our nations.

In all of his meetings, Secretary Pompeo emphasized the important role Pakistan could play in bringing about a negotiated peace in Afghanistan, and conveyed the need for Pakistan to take sustained and decisive measures against terrorists and militants threatening regional peace and stability.

Bro,

Nobody understand Dajjal and/or its mechanisms. I do not claim to, at personal capacity.

Perhaps, Hazrat Isa (PBUH) will clarify certain things to the world at large upon his return (assuming the prophesy is true).

What I know that we will be answerable for our deeds to the one true Lord after the hour, at individual capacity.
The Quran explains all things....you and I might not be able to extract that information...but there are those who have been given greater ability than you or I...
Dajjal was behind the British Empire and now behind the US "Empire"...he will then become the force behind the Israeli "Empire" and it appears we are close to this transition....it took two world wars for the first transition....

...Pompeo had a pleasant meeting and no gains for USA in diplomacy -
My dear, from my point of view the picture of Pompeo meeting with the combined leadership was a gain for U.S. diplomacy; that's why he's smiling.

You may argue that Pakistan wasn't conceding anything. And you may be right since diplomacy isn't necessarily a zero-sum game. However, I don't think Pakistan will be able to take that photograph back very easily.

Lol why do we need to take back that photo. That photo sends the message we want to send to Afghanistan and India.

:)

Look Pompeo is happy and he has no problem with us there are no issues.

The claim of "no issues" isn't one you can conclude from the picture, any more than you could claim that the smiles of IK & Co. are evidence that Pakistan has "no issues" with the U.S.
