Abe what do u know about the issue? He is not new to foreign ministry and has been a weak player in PPP govt. also. He was in Indian Punjab when 2008 Mumbai attacks happened. They did not allow him to come down the hall and cancelled his appearance with him nopt squeaking a word. He is a crap FM and push PTI to same as what Peoples Party did. Its not subsidies but the losses and management of the departments which PTI used to crap about and now following these same corrupt bureaucrat mafia. Most are paying their bills and have to pay more which will further strangulate the middle class.

That's where the whistle blower program can be of use. Its the civil service which operates these departments, which will have to speak up if corruption is to be rooted out now that corruption is issue number one. otherwise no matter who you put in the top job at each department, the leaks in between will still keep dripping. Corruption and mis-management either through negligence/incompetence or on purpose, are baked in to very rung of the system.

US and Pakistan have to find common grounds in their engagements. SMQ hinted on a few in his press conference.

WE do not have any other options vis-a-vis US. Russia and China can offer business but do not counter-act American influence in any way or form. Learn from the example of DPRK.

Let us be realistic. US have many options as well.

Pakistan have to sort out its problems with US on its own. No other way through this.

Talks, words, press releases & all claims of both sides aside; the world has seen the way Pompeo & Co. was received upon arrival. Analysts observes and express the same that compare the way Pakistanis used to welcome friends especially in Pakistan. This gesture alone was enough to deliver the message that whatever "You" had on your mind, "you" planned to come and speak as such or even "you" have some stunts to show; let's sit and talk on at-par level. The welcome at airport is all that one can conclude about current state of affairs as well as what Pakistan said and what we really want.

Look at Dunford that had some other things on mind yet caught by surprise & being boxed aside. Pompeo reaction is totally different presenting pure diplomatic approach & having a good time in friendly environment. Dunford thought will be dictating, as briefed and seems used to read a lot of Trump news, found himself having no room to act like a champ or dictate at all.

They do not fear any army. However, they saw a new country beneath the banner of Pakistan. Military brass was there due to General Dunford (protocol). I hear that General Dunford and Bajwa met seperately as well.

There was no posturing and WE set a positive tone throughout. This was a confidence-building measure meeting.

IK is a stateman and it shows. I am glad we have him.

Now, look at the conjectures (not that pretty for the US interests):

• Russia, China, Iran etc. are now quite active inside Afganistan; hence, Taliban pressure will get higher with time
• Using Afganistan to check on the region might already have crossed past the point of diminishing return
• If Afganistan can be reasonably stabilized via power sharing, Pak provide the route to market her minerals (lithium, rare earth metals etc.)
• Despite all the upheavals, Pak may be the last safe harbor for the USA in this region

I disagree with Jeremy..with $300 million dollar, you will get, at max, SMQ to greet you at the airport. PM may bother to think about possibly receiving POTUS only if he is coming after some pre-meeting positive gestures are sent. It is Pakistan...not KSA where the king goes to airport to receive, throws the biggest parties, and still offers $300 billions.
