US plans to bomb Miranshah and kill 200 civilians in revenge?

Probably they have come to the conclusion that no other choice exists.. I almost expect a military coup (backed by USA) any day in Pakistan now.. Dealing with a single man is always easier than with a democratic govt when you want to undertake unpopular actions in the country

If only wishes were Horses.!!

All along the Americans were claiming that OBL is hiding in mountains between Afghan/Pakistan border, never once mentioned any major cities, yet allegedly, they were almost certain of his dwellings.

Now they are pin pointing Haqqani network, if there is such a network, these guys will have to be pretty dumb to stick to their location considering an attack on them is pending.

The markets will not go over any cliff, please rest assured.

Most financial analysts feel otherwise and the technical indicators back up their pessimism. Obama's trillion dollar gamble failed to impress Wall Street, and this time, there are concerns even for China.

In any case, to return to the topic, the US can ill afford a major confrontation with Pakistan. As AM pointed out, it would be an emotional response, but not a rational one since it would be counterproductive to US interests in the region and globally.

Iran, Venezuela, Cuba. Countries find the strength to rise to challenges.

Pakistan has been like a beggar that has gotten addicted to the kindness of strangers. It's time to grow up.

the countries you mentioned have got that thing which whole world needs , hence they can rise up and challenge US.

the countries which are not blessed with OIL and challenge west end up like north korea (unless ur a china or russia).

I think the position US is taking now is of " We tried our best to do this without hurting Pakistan, but now what happens is on ISI's head"

For the Kabul attacks to happen ten years into the occupation is ridiculous. It makes a mockery of the American claim that they have 'stabliized' Afghanistan.

The US is basically trying to find a scapegoat for their spectacular failure in Afghanistan. It's desperation mode.

May be.. But I dont think so.. Looks like they have realized that they have been at the receiving end of a 10 year con by Pakistan..Guess they realized that in the month of May 2011

frankly speaking does location even matter in these cases "NO" but what you conveniently overlap is the fact which is that @ the end of the day they got their target OBL same goes for Haqqani & co simple

The best solution for Pakistan is to agree to US demands,as Pakistan can't stand in front of US military might as was demonstrated several times before.

They came in with guns blazing, all pumped up with self-righteousness and good dose of racism to boot. Over the next ten years, they have shown callous disregard for civilian casualties and the legitimate interests of Pakhtun Afghans. Now they are surprised at the result and trying to blame it on Paksitan.

How can a handful of guys allegedly in Pakistan conduct a country-wide resistannce campaign unless they have strong support throughout Afghanistan?

The funny thing will be is that 10 or 15 years down the road, it will be countries like Congo and Guatemala that will be bombing US (or the nation-states that come out of the dissolved US) in revenge.

Looks like in your eagerness, you missed the word ALMOST :D

And what were Pakistani officials/PMs/Presidents/COAS saying.. Dead, not in Pakistan etc etc.. hmm.. wonder who got an egg on their collective faces :)

OBL didnt and he still got knocked off.. Same may happen here..

OH yes Cogolese -Cr-2 Shamans are one of the most capable bombers in the world.

Or it could just be a measure of the desperation as Afghan withdrawal deadlines approach and there's not much to show after ten years of occupation.

2024 is already being talked about.. and not much to show was true till a few months back.. but Op Geronimo provided them with the much needed show case victory..

The same way hand ful of TTP folks are wrecking havoc in Pakistan..

I wouldn't say the most capable, but they're quite good still, and will be right near the top down the road. When US dissolves, F-22s and F-16s will become ill afforable to the nation-states that come out of the US.

I wonder how far has America slid down the rabbits hole that today they can justify killing 200 civilians as a means of revenge?
Pretty deep they are! Justifying the killing of 200 innocent men, women and children is no big deal for them. Remember Operation 'Shock and Awe' when they invaded Iraq? The aerial bombardment in the first 24 hours resulted in 30,000 Iraqi deaths!! Yep! Innocent men, women and kids!! For the Yanks, 200 is but a drop in the ocean! It's inconsequential. A mere statistic in the overall WOT.
