WASHINGTON: The United States and Pakistani officials are considering various options for Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Bajwa to visit the United States in late August or early September, diplomatic sources told Dawn.
“A date will soon be finalized,” a source said. Since the visit has not yet been officially confirmed, neither side has announced the agenda of the talks Gen Bajwa is likely to hold in Washington.
But diplomatic circles and think-tank experts point out that both sides have been trying to arrange such a visit for more than a year now. They also refer to various recent events and statements that might be discussed if and when Gen Bajwa visits Washington.
“We remain engaged with a range of stakeholders in Pakistan, (including) those currently in the government” and with “a broad array of others,” the department’s spokesperson Ned Price said.
Last month, Gen Bajwa reached out to Washington to request help in securing an early disbursement of funds from the IMF. He spoke with US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman and later a State Department official rejected media speculations that the call was linked to the current political situation in Pakistan.
Later, Gen Bajwa also spoke with Commander US Centcom Gen Michael Erik Kurilla and, according to an official statement, the two discussed “matters of mutual interests, regional stability as well as defence and security cooperation in detail.”

. . . . .
do you think Bajwa would get retired after all this mess ???
Bro, serious?

I distinctively remember DG ISPR saying something along the lines, ‘Bajwa sir ka extension ka koi iraada nahi hai. Wo retire ho na chahte hai’

.
The visit would be useless if he were to retire in November. This visit means he doesn't plan to retire and the US also see him as not retiring.
Bajwa is the biggest enemy of this country, along with his cronies. Not a single patriot is ever promoted to a high rank, so there is no one to stop them.

"Agar" Wo retire hona chahtey bi hai taab bi there are those who want to keep him in power ....

Bajwa is the guarantor of Traditional Power structure in Pakistan his retirement in current situation would mean the fall of Traditional Political Power Structure.

There is no way PMD would want to have General Elections in which they do not have support from Establishment and Judiciary, therefor they would want to have GE in October 2023 during this time Qazi Faez Essa would assume the charge of Chief Justice of Pakistan

Things to note are

- Current ECP Chief will remain in this position till Jan-2025

- Qazi Faez Esa would assume the charge of CJP in Sep-2023

- 'As of now' officially Bajwa is set to retired on Nov-2022, but What IF he received at least 1 more year extension?? In that case he will be COAS of PA till the time of GE in 2023 which will be held in Oct-2023, more importantly Bajwa is still 62 years of age which mean as per law he could serve as General till the age of 64, so in other words he could get upto 2 years of extension in his service.

Good points.

It seems PTI do not want elections now. Maybe they are waiting to get more clarity on Bajwa’s plans post November 2022.

But if elections were to be announced in 2023 with Bajwa, Esa and current EC Chief, that will be over for PTI.

Actually PTI is between rock and hard place If they increase the tempo of their movement and somehow situations goes out of their hand as well I mean If their political movement become violent like it happened in previously at 25-May in Punjab and in Karachi, then public may also react violently in Karachi it will definitely happen in Karachi PTI is no more political party of Uncles and Aunties of Defence & Clifton.

Secondly there is a very serious possibilities of increase of Terrorism as well specially in KPK, these counter moves by PDM+Bajwa lead Establishment would give them excuse to not only give extension to Bajwa on excuse of National Security due to political unrest but may also give opportunity to PDM lead government to declare National Emergency in that case PDM postpone GE for 1 year.

Gen BJ al SiSi

what an utter disappointment, what disgrace.
Politically it is 1971 all over again .... Bajwa is the reincarnation of Gen. Yahya

- In 1971 political situation started to get deteriorated from the March-1971, in 2022 regime change operation was put in motion in the Month of March.

- In 1971 Gen Yahya wanted to remain in power at all cost, in 2022 Gen Bajwa wanted to remain in power at all cost

- In 1971 Bhutto was not the majority leader of United Pakistan, in 2022 SS is not the Majority Leader of Pakistan

- As CnC of PA Yahya supported & used Bhutto & Islamic parties to topple Ayub Khan gov, in 2022 Bajwa is using and supporting SS+PDM

Bajwa is being rewarded for doing the regime change operation.

Remember its always the military generals who are key players in American regime change operations around the world.

first Bajwa was rewarded at Sandhurst and now with a visit to US. This is what our sell out generals do. They just want to be accepted by Americans. Musharraf was no different. There is this colonial inferiority complex.
