US offers its latest fighter to India

There's no way the US just offered India a stealth fighter, is there? :cheesy::cheesy::victory:

If this is true, we should buy at least one squad, just 18 jets, they'll be more than enough to dominate South Asian skies for the next 15-20 years.

hahahaha ruling south asian skies will remain a dream fro u becoz not ur pilots are that much trained on the stealth tech 15 years will take to train ur fighter pilots with S 400 arrived steatl tech is no longer a threat and might of china is standing infront of ur dreams of ruling th skies of south asia with only 20 jets when ur opponent also have JXX in few years and S 400 noe over 2000 fighter jets 20 F 35 rules the sky dream

If pak really somehow put up the money, they couldn't be able to go for more than 18.
Indian Navy on othe other hand will go for 40 atleast but won't buy if Pak do. Thus US will be more interested in India.

India will need it after 7-8 years from now i.e. 2017-18.

US does not care about selling to one or the other. They like to sell to both. 40 is a pretty small order compared to what others have gone with. As far as Pakistan is concerned, even 18 may be considered sufficient from the standpoint of 5th gen. technology introduction and air superiority denial standpoint.

If this sale would go through, the ealiest India can get this plane is later this decade. this is still faster than relying on the Russian stealth program though. If India can buy this plane, India for the first time purchase something worthwhile.

Did you guys get the drones that were requested already?? or Did you get the f16 with the same specifications as offered to India???

I think Pakistan in the past could get anything from anywhere as long as they paid for it. The German Subs also have their own story to tell. Lets agree that India and Pakistan, at the moment are not viewed on the same plain as was before.

Can you please explain the bolded part?

Of course they don't need it to land, but the vikrant class carriers are designed with these arrested landing systems. So designing and producing the carrier with this system and buying fighters that don't need it will be a huge waste of money right?
Also as far as I understands it, F35 as well as Rafale, F18SH... are all meant for the bigger carrier (that as you said, should get catapults) and Gorshkov and Vikrant will get Mig 29Ks (maybe N-LCAs) right? So which carrier should use F35Bs?
However, I still hope for N-FGFAs for our flagship!

You see there is a flaw in your understanding. Carrier are not designed for arresor hook landing but with arrestor hooks to land.

A STOVOL aircraft like the F-35 B can land vertically with out the need for hooks.. and can also take of vertically

So essentially its capable of operating on any carrier.

It doesn't need a runway. so any carrier can operate the F-35B.

The N-FGFA is a long way of, we wont hear anything about it until the Induction is underway in both Russia and India.

I don't how often we can call an aircraft a STOVL one. The vertical landing part is useful only when the aircraft is not fully loaded. Weight is factor for such aircraft.

usefulness is a relative term, isn't it? compare to F-35, they are not as useful

Dude why should we have to compare them to F-35?unless our enemies posses it.. for Indian use they are very very useful to counter our enemies ..

. .
Yes compared to f35, which has not existed in past decade nor someting like that will appear in next decade in paf or plaaf.

going by your statement 'relatively' mki is unuseful and so are all gen 4 fiìters in south asia which canj counter the non existing gen 5 fighter.

even f-35 is inferior to f22 but why bother when u r not gonna face it.
india is targetting pakistn n china
not Us.

.
If F-35 and F-22 are superior and useful than the ones available in the US, then why are they still using F-15, F-16, F-18 etc
If by 'they' you mean US...Then consider this possibility...That the issue is to create 'concurrent' and equal level of lethality in both the observable and the very low observable spectrum. Think about it...How would you feel that if upon looking at a radar scope, you know that there are unseen attackers who are just as lethal as the ones you are seeing? Send your forces to attack what is seen and you just might perish at the hands of the 'unseen'. Or vice versa.
