What's new

US gradually armed Pakistan with 14 combat aircrafts, 59 trainer jets, 374 armoured carriers

Well yes i understand tha the more we buy US weapons, the more we expose ourselves to their threats of embargo. That was the whole point behind buying from alternative sources.
Now that Many countries are offering weapons to Pakistan, sticking to age old US trash is just stupid. Specially when Russia and Turkey could have provided similar or better stuff in same or less money.
bro lets forget every thing like embargoes just keeping quality in mind what will you purchase if you have option to purchase f35, t50, j20, j31 and tfx pls answer honestly

.
like wise LCA vs Mirage 2000 air exercise as when ready...

Why not LCA vs Mig 29

Why would IAF prove with facts that LCA is better or inferior to Mirage 2000? That'll make them look daft that why are they operating the two types???

If LCA does well against Mirage 2000 and Mig 29 ie it holds itself out
then IAF will scream from Roof tops

It will be a HUGE success for LCA

We shall know about it by this time NEXT YEAR

I think what these so called pdf veterans and elites trying to say that.. ohh Indians are buying from Russians, Europeans, Americans and we are confined to US and Chinese because european is costly, russians are not selling the critical weapons to Pak. So better to go for US system because US iron is tested in the battle field plus it is ready, no delay. The similar logic is of our IAF but they are being taught a lesson.

Can some one tell, are these costs of the weapons is including maintenance + up gradation + ToT?

but there you have to give extra maintenance since these all weapons have been used in harsh environments, with high wear & tear.

This is a really confusing, thread someone should clear it up, this may be the equipment we got since 200.

It may be the depreciation calculated on the aircraft.

@Stephen Cohen

:omghaha:
it says FalconBSE-4.69% ( Bombay stock exchange -4.69% for Falcon tyres) the cost of a share for 'Falcon tyres' fell down by 4.69% LOL, it has nothing to do with price of weapon. :P

now in real time its FalconBSE-3.08% haha so value of a share rose by 1%

US arms Pakistan with 14 combat aircrafts, 59 trainer jets, 374 armoured carriers

WASHINGTON: The US has handed over to Pakistan 14 combat aircraft, 59 military trainer jets and 374 armoured personnel carriers, which were earlier used by American forces in Afghanistan and Iraq.

As the US withdraws its forces from neighbouring Afghanistan, the major defence articles have been transferred to Pakistan under its 'Excessive Defence Article' category, an internal Congressional report has said.

India had in the past have opposed the transfer of such arms to Pakistan as it believes Islamabad would eventually use the fighter jets against it.

According to the internal report prepared by Congressional Research Service (CRS)-- an independent research wing of the Congress-- Pakistan has either made full payment or will make payments from its national funds towards the purchase of 18 new F-16C/D Block 52 Fighting FalconBSE -3.18 % combat aircraft worth $ 1.43 billion.

This include F-16 armaments including 500 AMRAAM air-to-air missiles; 1,450 2,000-pound bombs; 500 JDAM Tail Kits for gravity bombs; and 1,600 Enhanced Paveway laser-guided kits. All this has cost Pakistan $ 629 million.

Under Coalition Support Funds (in the Pentagon budget), Pakistan received 26 Bell 412EP utility helicopters, along with related parts and maintenance, valued at $ 235 million.

Pakistan is also receiving military equipment with a mix of its national funds and America's foreign military funding.

These include 60 Mid-Life Update kits for F-16A/B combat aircraft (valued at $ 891 million, with $ 477 million of this in FMF).

Pakistan has purchased 45 such kits, with all upgrades completed to date. This include 115 M-109 self-propelled howitzers ($ 87 million, with $ 53 million in FMF).

Under Frontier Corps, and Pakistan Counterinsurgency Fund authorities, US has provided four Mi-17 multirole helicopters (another six were provided temporarily at no cost), four King Air 350 surveillance aircraft, and 450 vehicles.

No, these 14 F-16's were half of the 28 that we had paid for and then sanctioned. They were delivered somewhere around 2006-2008 time period.
Original purchase in 80's = 38
Sanctioned 14 in 2006-2008 = 14
Block 50/52 = 18
Jordan = 14
Total 84

I think 14 F16s are the same which Pakistan had received from Jordan in 2014. But looks like 18 F16 C/D is a new purchase. Since India has decided MMRCA, Pakistan has also taken some step forward.

But what does that mean? Is J-10 out of table?

WASHINGTON: The United States has handed over 14 combat aircraft, 59 military trainer jets and 374 armoured personnel carriers to Pakistan from the weapons it is leaving behind in the region, reports the Congressional Research Service.

The agency, which prepares internal reports for the US Congress, reported that the weapons supplied to Pakistan were earlier used by American forces in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The United States is withdrawing its forces from Afghanistan and has offered some of the weapons it is leaving behind to its allies in the region, including Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Technically, these weapons are classified as “Excessive Defence Articles”, i.e. equipment used by the US forces, which can be supplied to allied nations at withdrawal instead of shipping them back to the United States.

The weapons include F-16 armaments including 500 AMRAAM air-to-air missiles; 1,450 2,000-pound bombs; 500 JDAM Tail Kits for gravity bombs; and 1,600 Enhanced Paveway laser-guided kits. All this has cost Pakistan $629 million.

Pakistan has also paid $298 million for 100 harpoon anti-ship missiles, 500 sidewinder air-to-air missiles ($95 million); and seven Phalanx Close-In Weapons System naval guns ($80 million).

Under Coalition Support Funds (in the Pentagon budget), Pakistan received 26 Bell 412EP utility helicopters, along with related parts and maintenance, valued at $235 million.

Pakistan is also receiving military equipment with a mix of its national funds and America’s foreign military funding.
