Today, what is taking place in Iraq is nothing short of amazing. Think of it - when Uncle Sam attacked Iraq, al-Qaeda basically did not exist there (except in Saddam's jails). Now, after a decade of "US-style nation building" the local franchise of al-Qaeda is in full control of Mosul, Falludjah, Tikrit, Ramadi and many other.

And now, years after Dubya's "mission accomplished" we have Barak "no we can't" Obama having to decide whether to bring back the "official" US military in (the "private" or "unofficial" never left) or whether to provide air cover for the Iranian Pasdaran? Who knows what kind of idiotic plan Obombya and his advisers can come up with? What is certain is that this is a total disgrace for a country which fancies itself as a superpower. Think of it:
Lebanon: US wanted a new Middle-East. Fail.
Iraq: US wanted to built a client-state. Fail.
Afghanistan: US wanted to eliminate the Taliban. Fail.
Pakistan: US wanted to eliminate the Taliban. Fail.
Syria: US wanted to regime-change Assad. Fail.
Egypt: US wanted to create a client state. Fail.
Libya: US wanted to create a client state. Fail.
Chechnia: US wanted to subvert Russia and control the Caucaus. Fail.
Georgia: US wanted to subvert Russia and control the Caucasus. Fail.
KSA: US wanted an alliance with KSA over Syria. Fail
Qatar
: US wanted Qatari support over oil prices and Russi. Fail.
Yemen: US wanted to destroy al-Qaeda. Fail.
Somalia: 20 years ago the US wanted to take Somalia under control. Fail.
And the list goes on and on and one all around the planet. Remember when Obama said that Russia was a "regional power"? I wonder whether he said that out of envy as the US is not even capable of dealing with Mexico, nevermind the middle east.
These examples also show how weak and impotent the US military has become. It is just powerful enough to make a bloody mess out of a small country, but if we accept that warfare is the pursuit of geopolitics by other means, than the US military is basically useless as it has failed to secure any US political objectivessince a long while already, no less than 20 years or even more...
It will be interesting to see what happens in Iraq. What is certain is that Iran will eventually have to fix that mess for the US. That, in turn, will have a direct impact on the war against Syria which, in turn, will strengthen Hezbollah which, in turn, will strengthen the position of Iraq. There is a American expression for the US foreign policy. It is called a "clusterfuck" and that is exactly what it is.
Which makes me wonder how a single European can seriously believe that handing over the entire Ukrainian crisis to the US is a smart idea?
What would it take to wake up these comatose EU politicians?
As for the central Europeans a la Poland, Lithuania, Romania or Bulgaria - they picked Uncle Sam as their patron and sold their souls to him for pennies (talk about betting on the wrong horse!). And for that they will always be treated with contempt by their neighbors, both from the East and from the West. Oh yes, there will be hell to pay for those who sold out for so cheap and, frankly, I cannot honestly say that I feel sorry for them. As the Russian saying goes "they got what they fought for".

Sorry but what is happening in Iraq is not Al-Queda. It is mainly inter-religious strife that is far older than AQ

But yes, going into Iraq was/Is a fustercluck, and the only move for the US is to stay out of it as far as ground forces.

If it is inter-religious then why is the US intervening on behalf of one. Or does the US have a secret pro-Shia policy?

Does that mean that you support the US providing aircover for the Pasdaran?

Very good post, you should also mention all the victims that these failed US policies along with their armed extensions have left behind; in the millions...
i have always thought that the US can be potent when defending the right causes and real justice, since it was not built with imperialistic purposes, failing this, and submitting willingly or unwillingly to Zionism was and is the cause of the US decline and it taking a downward path.
The US as a nation should build a mind identification sensor to distinguish between friend an foe. But still, zionist will most probably be present and mingle with the sensor to their advantage, maybe by planting a holocaust flashing red light, that goes on everytime an American think of them as foes.

the Anti-imperialist US is long gone.
There was a time when the rest of the world looked up to the US as a savior and an anti-imperialist power, probably because of their own struggle for independence. But that is history now.
The US today is an imperialist power itself and not really a good one at that. It's political system is hijacked by lobby groups and special interests. While its foreign policy boils down to, "who do we bomb, next".
It has basically become a danger to itself and the rest of the world.

Whilst the US does alot of bad things, they are not fully at blame. Look at the countries listed, very weak people who just go from being subservient to one leader and then another, prove me otherwise. The populations are as much, one for allowing the yanks to intervene in their business and two, for allowing the reasons the Americans intervened to occur.

Most those regions have generally been fairly poor and wartorn, noticed the real big correlation there...Islam. I love how you somehow reflect Russias damage in Chechnya/George onto America, hahaha.

.
i agree but maybe its also part of the plan to spread chaos and let muslims killing each other, but i doubt they would want it now to happen while russia is nearly invading ukraine

The American Reagan administration once said: "Saddam may be a bastard, but he's OUR bastard".

And Saddam ruthlessly persecuted Al-Qaeda along with various other extremist groups. But then America decided to throw out their old ally.

Now look at Iraq, it's becoming worse than Somalia.

The US invasions of the Middle East were the "best recruiting tool" in the history of Islamic extremism. These terrorist groups went from small cliques to massive international organizations with apparently endless numbers of soldiers and bombers to fight their cause.
