US Cancel $300m Aid to Pakistan Over Militants Failure

The US military said it has made a final decision to cancel $300 million in aid to Pakistan that had been suspended over Islamabad's perceived failure to take decisive action against militants, in a new blow to deteriorating ties.

The so-called Coalition Support Funds were part of a broader suspension in aid to Pakistan announced by President Donald Trump at the start of the year, when he accused Pakistan of rewarding past assistance with "nothing but lies and deceit."

The Trump administration says Islamabad is granting safe haven to insurgents who are waging a 17-year-old war in neighboring Afghanistan, a charge Pakistan denies.

"Due to a lack of Pakistani decisive actions in support of the South Asia Strategy the remaining $300 (million) was reprogrammed," Pentagon spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Kone Faulkner said.

Pack of lies... actually US has out standing payments to make which they are terming as aid.
If Pakistani PM was any bit strong, it had reciprocated and cut Indo /US transit aid with immediate effect and had filed a case in international court of justice for violation of contract.

I guess the die is cast. No going back. I hope Pompeo and Mattis are coming to threaten Prime Minister Imran Khan. And when they do our man won't budge a inch. Fact is Pakistan is not Cuba. We have China looking out for us. We have Turkey and now things look warming up with Iran. I expect Pakistan to stand firm. If needed get ready to cut of NATO supply routes. Also time for Pakistan to sign Iranian gas at good prices. Time of wean of the USA/Saudia Arabia bandwagon.

Foreign office should have built up to a meeting with IK and Trump where they would have cleared the air. This hasn't happened so plan B should be to cut the supply route just before Pompeo lands.

Then it should be no IK or COAS meeting. Just SMQ meet then f**k off out of Pakistani airspace. Let Trump sort out restoration of supply route with whatever concessions they can make.

Safe to say this relationship is over and only regime change in US can save it.

Iran built their pipeline to the Pakistan border and even offered to build the pipes on the Pakistani side as well, but unfortunately Pakistan gave in to US pressure and hasn't done it yet.

HQ-19 is still in testing and not operational even in China yet as far as I can see, let alone for export version (but maybe in 5-10 years time)

Of course we’re unprofessional when it comes to handling strategic parterships. We deserve this. Its not like the 17 year old afghan-mission supply route has been operational through Pakistan like clockwork for years. Think its about time Pakistan told America to “Do more” - clearly they’ve failed to bits in Afghanistan for 17 years.

I'm surprised that Pompeo meets The prime minister instead of foreign minister. Trump would never meet with Pakistan's foreign minister and I'd doubt if he'd even want meet or even same room as Pakistan's prime minister. I guess the goal is to show their disdain and hence the distance. Pakistan has at this point no need to kowtow to U.S. line
