US Cancel $300m Aid to Pakistan Over Militants Failure

Thanks to Trump finally Foreign leaders have begun to reshape alliances, bypassing and diminishing the United States. by the way Trump has issue with entire world :D ...

.
Pakistan needs to work it's key with the other three keys to Afghanistan and screw the US chestnuts hard. Real hard until it pulls out or tells the Indians to leave Afghanistan. Time to get serious. Without the four no way in or no way out. But the four need to work together.

The four keys to Afghanistan - Pakistan, Iran, Russia and China.

It is very very simple. Turkey and india will buy S400 and there is nothing they will be able to do. Pakistan will no longer be subjected to any of their demands either.

In short they are chopping their own feet off.

Where is Turkiye ? :)

Where is Turkiye ? :)
Well, Turkey is critical on the Bosphorus where Europe and Asia meet. Therefore it is one of the world's most strategic points but it has no 'key' to Afghanistan. However if it were to join the four Uncle Sam would be in some serious bother but I don't think that will happen as Turkey is fundamentally hostile to Russia. The Turks might play with Russia but it is all just to extract more out USA. And USA will give what Turks want because of it's centrality to NATO and containing Russia.

The US military said it has made a final decision to cancel $300 million in aid to Pakistan that had been suspended over Islamabad's perceived failure to take decisive action against militants, in a new blow to deteriorating ties.

The so-called Coalition Support Funds were part of a broader suspension in aid to Pakistan announced by President Donald Trump at the start of the year, when he accused Pakistan of rewarding past assistance with "nothing but lies and deceit."

The Trump administration says Islamabad is granting safe haven to insurgents who are waging a 17-year-old war in neighboring Afghanistan, a charge Pakistan denies.

"Due to a lack of Pakistani decisive actions in support of the South Asia Strategy the remaining $300 (million) was reprogrammed," Pentagon spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Kone Faulkner said.

I thought this was reduced to $150 million months ago. And, for which time period is this money is in relation to, 2019?

Good riddance though. Congratulations to Pakistan for the umpteenth time.

Easier said than done, Trump administration would sanction us to death if that happens.

In the 1970s, the US said to President Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, that they will make a horrible example of him if he continued with the nuke program.

He continued and Pakistan eventually became a nuclear power.

Always a fan of your annotated maps and diagrams.

The US has two main forces it needs to contend with, counter insurgency and near peer adversaries.

The "War on Terror" increased the proportion of funding and effort into counter insurgency centered around Iraq and Afghanistan. This from China's point of view created a gap of 15 years where pressure was relieved from a conventional military point of view, opening a window for rapid military technological growth without necessitating substantial military buildup.

As a reaction to the rise of America's near peer adversaries' capabilities in asymmetric warfare (cyberwarfare, A2/AD) and conventional warfare (Joint command, J-20, Type 055, drones) attention and funding is being diverted into the 3rd military offset. The "War on Terror" delayed American military modernization against near peer adversaries by a decade. To support this new modernization effort, a military draw down in counter insurgency campaigns was needed and it was accomplished. Currently, only a small force is present in Afghanistan with the ANA doing the bulk of the heavy lifting.

A draw down of American troops in Afghanistan creates less demand for supplies. Closure of Manas air base and tensions with Russia won't affect war effort as much as compared to during the height of operations in Afghanistan. Shut down of Russian route leaves the Caucus-Central Asia and Pakistan corridors (currently the majority of supply flow).

To mitigate against the risk of the Pakistan route, Chabahar and Caucasus-Central Asia are alternatives currently being developed.

It is no coincidence that in recent years, the occurrence of Chabahar port and Ukrainian proposed silk road as taken place.
Kozak-silk-road.jpg

A total shutdown of of the Pakistan corridor or escalated costs/risks would compel an Iranian-American rapprochement. This is possible if Americans are willing to uphold their end of the bargain. Maybe it's best if Pakistan and Iran develop closer relations during this tough time before any disruptions of the Pakistan supply route. Another side effect would be the rise of Ukraine and Caucasus as a route hitching off the backs of trade routes part of the larger Silk Road. A vulnerability of this route is the possibility of a second Russo-Georgian War.

The battle for Eurasia is also a battle for supply routes, the goal is not to shut supply routes. Low transaction costs are ideal and should be worked towards but other costs such as national interests should also be taken into account. During the Russo-Georgian war in 2008, the port of Poti which is part of the proposed logistics route to Afghanistan was impacted by the conflict. In the event of a second Russo-Georgian war, America's role as the arbiter of Eurasia can be eroded. When all major Eurasian supply routes are secured through SCO nations, a common destiny can be forged. In such a situation, America can be a force within Afghanistan but conditions can be set by neighboring nations as to the direction of efforts being made. Outside forces should be welcomed but to utilized to work towards common goals. Antagonism and ending the American effort in Afghanistan in short run isn't the ultimate goal. Forcing it to end prematurely can also cause negative consequences for Pakistan.

It is better for America to focus more efforts upon counter insurgency than wholly focus on near peer adversaries. Why is this bad for Pakistan? because it limits some drastic measures and leverage Pakistan has over America to peruse independent policies via external actors such as China and Russia.
