Ukrainian Base Attacked by Russian Troops

And that is the reason why EU can learn from this situation. As my financial adviser tells me all the time, "its important to DIVERSIFY ONE'S PORTFOLIO". Case in point, don't rely on Russia for energy needs. Thank goodness there's always OPEC to the rescue. :)
Europe's economy wouldn't be able to take the shock of Russia turning off the gas.

@Kloitra ,

Because we are the United States of America. And we are NATO. :)

The 6th Fleet has been placed on high alert. There is battle group already in the Black Sea Fleet in an undisclosed location. :)
Lol so Americans are warming up again for yet another defeat :p after being kicked out of Iraq and Afghanistan

And backing from western "free" media to reality:
Shooting in Simferopol was carried from a single point at self-defense fighters and neighboring Ukrainian military unit, said a source in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Crimea.
The source said the shots were fired from a single point in two directions: on the self-defense fighters who tested signal of the presence of armed men in an unfinished building, as well as towards the Ukrainian military unit stationed nearby, reports "Kryminform."

And neither could Russia...which depends 50% of its energy export to Europe.

If they cut it off, they tank their economy.

Local Ukrainians staged the coup, anyway even if US doesn't get involved Kiev is now squarely in Western camp.

Local payed and guided by the west , its quite clear from the recently leaked phone conversations

No...you just paid others to do it for you , just like Libya and Syria
This is baseless accusation.

Fact is that Western soldiers did not invade, while Russian soldiers did invade.

Perhaps but regardless incentive has to be there or the "operation" would not have been so successful.

It would hurt Russia but they would still have everything they need to survive. Europe wouldn't have energy to fuel it economy or heat its homes. Russia could take the shock in a war type scenario but not Europe.

Eastern Libya was under represented and backward compared to Western Libya which is why the revolt started, Syria rebellion is a total Saudi led affair.

Russia would most probably raise the price for gas.

And watch the devaluation of their Ruble and already collapsing economy?

Russian economy is weak, Putin needs an 'enemy' to prevent a diminishing support base.
