Meanwhile the west is whining about Russian policies in Ukraine and even putting sanctions on them, while they are supporting the much worse terrorists in Syria, unfortuanrltely there is no one there to sanction U.S and Europe.
Here's the thing. The rest of the global actors have started to realise that if left unchecked and unresisted, US is going to a dangerous behemoth that will threaten security and regime change to anyone it does not like.
They removed Ghadaffi because he did not want to trade in the US dollar. What was supposed to be a campaign for no-fly zone in Libya (which they reluctantly got in the Security council) turned into a campaign of overthrowing a sovereign state.
Russia and China has enough.
They look at the Syria example and realise that there is only one tune that Washington listens to and understand:
PAIN! Resistance
Which is why Iran is doing it exactly right. When they asked for our assistance against taliban in 2001, some Iranian officials naively thought that US would begin to like them. But we saw that immediately after the Bush put Iran in the axis of evil.
Now Iran has withdrawn its support in Afghanistan and the West is getting nowhere. They have asked several intermediares from India to beg Iran to come back and help.
Now they need our help in other places in the region, and Iran is refusing.
Thats why they so desperately want to chalk out a nuclear deal. So do you see now?
The best way to get the US to listen and respect and recognize you as an independent state is not to do everything they ask and hope they will like you.
No, it is to make it increasingly costly for the US NOT to recognize you and your interests.
That is why Iran is in a very demanding position when it comes to nuclear negotiations.
Resistance and pain. This is the only language uncle sam understands and listens to.
And that is why Russia is supporting rebels. To make it costly and troublesome for Europe and US.
