A U.S. - Iran confrontation gets flogged almost daily on another forum that I can think of. No one is denying Iranian patriotism and resolve, but the technological gap, especially in the air war, is large and deep. The sanctions, and more importantly, the Iranian brain drain and dissolution of the engineers and such after the revolution, gutted Iran's technological base.
You'd have 1960's era F-5's and F-4's and some taped together F-14's fighting F-22, F-15/16/18, equipped with the latest. And if any nation knows how to jam and neutralize those old birds, it's the U.S.
For every news article discussing a confrontation in the U.S. media, there are 100 in Iranian media. It has become an obsession, and this is intentional. By distracting Iranians, it diverts attention from domestic issues. All nations do this to some degree.
There will not be any aggression from the U.S. towards Iran.
