U.S. feared India would intervene in Bangladesh after coup

When AL came to power this time around, India is practically running sensitive issues like war crimes tribunal via AL gov:which so far I know has not been questioned by the US authority. USA wants to keep good relationship with India because of China.they will not jeopardize that for BDs sake.

Now since you have acknowledged we Indians virtually rule you, go get me a cup of coffee :cheesy: chop! chop!

Sorry to differ-we maybe poor but our ppl don't die of hunger.we don't have to walk 3/4kim each day to fetch drinking water, our death ratio in children are lower than India,in India all these thing happen in daily basis. That's the facts reported by Indian media, news papers.

Good I am happy that BD has progressed on those parts.... But was that the topic of discussion...

We don't need US' permission for it.

Anyways, Our Dalals are doing great job there, so i see no reason to Intervene.

No, no. What you could not dare to do in 1975/76, you will certainly not do it now because you will get a big punch that will make your nose bloody. Thing is, your Dalals in BD have purchased five times more weapons for the country in the last 4 yrs than the self-styled enemies of India did in the 35 yrs before it. Jamaatis will categorically deny the importance of these purchases because they are perplexed at this great volume of weapons induction. But, still it is the reality.

.
BD is too big to be intervened by anybody militarily. India is too weak and Maldives are the better candidate for that kind of adventure.

Why do you speak on behalf of your master aka India who itself colonized the whole NE?

You are quite wrong even about the Maldives. The former President of Maldives went too far by assigning an Indian company the right to operate the international airport. People started street protests and he was ousted from power at the end of last year, and with him were ousted the airport operator and other Indian companies who were influencing the govt decisions.

Oh!!!! This Baniya India is a menace to all the countries nearby. This is why it is so despised. India did a great thing by not trying to intervene in 1975. India already knew the result of any such misadventure, because it believes in astrology and the country has many renowned (Hindu) astrologers.

When you really compare Maldives vs Bangladesh as a target for India, Maldives is a comparatively difficult target. We will need to use our Navy, our Air force, etc. to a greater extent to capture Maldives if we want. I mean they are FAR FAR AWAY compared to BD.

Now, when it comes to BD, if we want, all we have to do is send troops from the 3 sides. Heck, we can also use the fourth side as our Navy is infinitely bigger than the BIG Bangladesh.

Your troops would surrender in less than 2-3 days. But that is, if we wanted to take over BD. We DON'T wanna take you. :P You are not lucrative enough.

India would have not have sent military to BD in 1975

We intervened in BD in 1971 for two reasons

1. Pak helped insurgents in NE to destabilize NE and the help came through EP.

2. Due to mess in EP, 10 million refugees took refuge in India, burdening Indian economy

These two things made our intervention 1971 necessary, MB got what they wanted; we too

After that keeping good relations with Pro-Indian GOB was enough and military intervention was not necessary in 1975

I think GOI used diplomacy card instead, though I don't know anything about what was actual response of GOI to the coup

India probably did not intervene military in 1971 because of the Emergency in that country. Already Indira Gandhi was having a difficult time justifying the emergency so a military intervention soon after would have been disastrous politically.

The reason why India didn't militarily intervene was politics. Nothing else.

The world wouldn't have taken it very kindly after all the crap that went on over there.
